Celebration
Week 2025
Here at BPS we celebrated Neurodiversity Celebration Week from March 17th - 21st 2025. We were busy with activites throughout the week.
Our wonderful wellbeing captains Nini & Jasmine shared their story of neurodiversity at the school assembly. It was wonderful. Well done to you both.
Our students enjoyed completing a colouring activity of the brain to celebrate 'Every brain is different' these will be made into an exciting display - stay tuned in Term 2. Some of the beautiful work is below:
Some of the students during Art with Mrs Allibon created some beautiful wrist bands to celebrate!
Mrs Dunn read 'All Brains are different' at library club during lunch. This book resonated with so many of our students and lots of great questions and similarities from characters in the book resonated with the students.
The 'Did you know' posters displayed around our school lead to some wonderful comments and questions from our students throughout the week. I have attached some of them below. Did any of these surprise you?
Various books were read to our students in their classrooms throughout the week about 'different brains' and how we all work differently and the names of some of the different kinds of brains and diagnosis' like ADHD, Dyslexia, Autism etc. Our grade 4 -6 students read The Umbrella Gang comic books (Episodes 1-3), which provoked a lot of discussion and clarity for our senior students around diagnosis, how it can look and how we can help each other.
Thank you all for helping us celebrate this week and every week at Bundoora Primary School that ' All brains are different'.
I will leave you with this quote from Sherrin Strathairn, Principal and Julie Dunn Assistant Principal :
“We value neurodiversity at Bundoora Primary School. As an inclusive school we celebrate all students and the value of their uniqueness all year round.
We place our students at the centre of all decisions we make in order to achieve the best holistic outcomes for all”.
- Sherrin Strathairn, Principal
- Julie Dunn , Assistant Principal
