Student Safety

ARRIVAL AT SCHOOL

A reminder to families that students should not arrive at school unsupervised before 8:45am, as this is the time staff commence yard duty and the school assumes supervision responsibilities for students. Prior to this time, families are welcome to utilise the school grounds and play spaces; however, children must remain under parent/carer supervision.

We appreciate families supporting us in ensuring students are safe before school each morning.

BIKES AND SCOOTERS

Thank you to families for your patience while temporary arrangements are put in place during our building works. The temporary bike parking area will include bike racks and fencing shortly.

A reminder that all students must walk their bikes and scooters whilst on school grounds. Riding bikes or scooters within the school grounds is not permitted for safety reasons.

Student Action

DRESS UP DAY

On Thursday 26th June, Student Action will be holding a Dress Up Day to coincide with the Socceroos’ World Cup match.

Students are encouraged to dress in the colours of the team they will be supporting for the World Cup. A gold coin donation is requested, with all proceeds supporting the Story Dogs Foundation.

We look forward to seeing plenty of colour and team spirit around the school!

HPS BIG FREEZE ASSEMBLY

Families are warmly invited to attend our HPS Big Freeze Assembly this Friday from 2:50pm.

Students have been busy creating posters and building excitement around the event, which is always a highlight on the school calendar. We also look forward to presenting any awards from previous weeks where assemblies were cancelled.

We hope to see many families there to support the event and join in the fun.

LIDSQUAD

LIDSQUAD has now been up and running for several weeks, and our new Grade 5 students have settled beautifully into their roles. It has been fantastic to see the enthusiasm, teamwork and responsibility they have shown as they learn the processes involved in the program. The students have been working collaboratively to sort lids, organise materials and support one another. We are very proud of how quickly they have developed confidence and independence.

Our Green Warriors will also be assisting with the program this year, helping to strengthen the connection between classrooms and the LIDSQUAD team. They will support classes to create greater consistency in how lids are collected, sorted and prepared before being delivered to the team.

Our recycled pens are still available for purchase from the office, with all proceeds going directly back into the program. Such as purchasing ink cartridges for the pens and supporting our goal of buying new moulds for students to continue expanding the range of items they create.

LIDSQUAD provides students with valuable hands-on learning opportunities about sustainability and the environmental impacts of plastic waste, while also helping reduce the amount of plastic ending up in landfill and our oceans. We thank you for your continued support of this important and growing program!

ANDREA MAGLIO RETIRING

It is with mixed emotions that I share that Andrea M has made the decision to retire at the end of this term, bringing to a close more than 20 years of service to Hampton Primary School.

Over her time at Hampton, Andrea has been a constant presence at the front office, supporting countless students, families and staff members. She has seen the school through significant change, particularly in the administration space, adapting to new systems, processes and expectations while always maintaining her calm and professional approach.

Retirement will provide Andrea with the opportunity to spend more time doing the things she enjoys, including travelling, spending time with family and, of course, continuing to work on that golf handicap.

On behalf of the entire Hampton Primary School community, I would like to sincerely thank Andrea for her dedication to our school and wish her all the very best for a wonderful retirement.

SECOND HAND UNIFORM SALE

A huge thank you to Amy and Kirsten and all of their wonderful helpers who supported the Second Hand Uniform Sale last week. The sale raised $1100 which is an incredible amount, and evidences how valued it is by you all as a way to recycle and restock!
