What an incredible day we had at our annual House Athletics Carnival last week at Goldsworthy Reserve! The sun was shining, the house colours were proudly on display and the atmosphere throughout the day was full of energy, excitement and school spirit.

Students from all year levels participated in a wide variety of athletic events including sprints, relays, hurdles, long jump, shot put, discus and track events. It was fantastic to see so many students stepping outside their comfort zones, showing resilience, encouraging one another and most importantly — having a go and trying their very best.

One of the highlights of the day was the outstanding sportsmanship shown by our students. Whether competing, cheering on teammates or helping others, students represented “Mano” with pride and positivity throughout the entire carnival.

A very special thank you must go to our amazing “Mano” community and parent helpers who generously volunteered their time to marshal events, assist with equipment, support students and help the day run so smoothly. Without your support, events like this simply would not be possible. We are incredibly grateful for the wonderful community spirit that makes Mano such a special place.

The final relay at the end of the day was won by Narmbool in a very tight finish, followed by a competitive student, parent and staff relay which was won by 1 metre by the staff team. It was great to see parents have two teams in the event, but with Mr Urquhart finishing off the final leg not even flash could catch him on the day!

Thank you also to all staff, student leaders and families involved in making the carnival such a memorable and successful day for everyone- a big congratulations to Purrumbete who won on points for the day with the scores below in a tight finish.

Purrumbete - 1,134 points

Manifold -1,117 points

Narmbool - 960 points

Strachan - 903 points

A huge congratulations to Evan for progressing through to the third stage of the AFL SSV Trials on Monday, with the squad now narrowed down to just 38 students across the state — an amazing achievement! Evan will attend another trial next Wednesday and we wish him all the very best as he continues this exciting journey.

We would also like to acknowledge Isla and Jace for proudly representing “Mano” at the Girls AFL SSV try outs in Melbourne this week. Both students embraced the experience, challenged themselves and gave their absolute best throughout the day. We are incredibly proud of all three students for their effort, courage and positive sporting attitude! Thanks to their amazing parents as-well who transported and made time for such an opportunity.

Go Mano!
