MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL

Thank you to the Dinjerra grandparents and family members who attended our Grandparents' Morning on Friday 23rd October. We had a huge turnout of grandparents. The students enjoyed hearing stories of what school and home was like when their grandparents were young, and even some unbelievable stories of migration to Australia. After visiting the classrooms, the grandparents gathered in the staffroom for some tea, coffee and biscuits. It was such a heartwarming morning. I have asked the grandparents to visit us more often, as volunteers, so hopefully we will have more opportunities to connect in the future!

Our House Captains have led the introduction of ‘Sunrise Sprints’. Each Monday to Thursday morning between 8:45 and 8:55am, students are invited to walk or run laps of our courts in order to collect house point tokens. So far, we have had an overwhelming uptake of students completing the daily activity. At the end of each week, we will tally up the house points and announce them over the speaker or at assembly. Here is the running total of our house points from Terms 1 to 3, and also the Week 3 totals.

Hola! A huge gracias to Maestra Antonella for a vibrant and fun Spanish LOTE Day! What a brilliant day of Spanish inspired activities. The students got an authentic insight into Hispanic culture, and it was great to see our students dressed in Spanish themed outfits! Thanks to all staff for supporting the day. Please see the next page for some fun photos.
Thank you to our families who donated cakes, cookies and slices for our ever-popular Bake Sale. Once again, our Junior School Councillors prepared for the event and then served the customers. I am pleased to say we raised $653.10.
I am pleased to confirm that our fundraising total so far for the 2026 school year is $15,772.06. We have two fundraising events remaining:
Sunday 22nd November Bunnings Sausage Sizzle (Bunnings Sunshine)
Friday 4th December Family Fiesta
*We will provide a sign up link for the Bunnings Sausage Sizzle shortly.
Thanks to the families who have made their Parent Payments for 2026. The amount for the year is $270, which is made up of $220 in curriculum consumables and $50 in other contributions.
If you have joined Dinjerra during Terms 2,3 or 4, you can pay a pro rate amount. We are thankful for any contribution you are able to make to the school, as payments go towards our expenses, including the stationery bill for the students' supplies for the year.
We were fortunate enough to host volunteers from Victoria University for VU Volunteers Day on Friday 23rd October. Our volunteers helped weed and tidy the eastern side of the school, between the Junior Building and the fence. Thank you to Danielle Swanson and Kylie Kirk for organising the event.

In the spirit of dressing up, on Friday 30th October, students are welcome to come to school in casual clothes. We know that many students like to dress up for Halloween, so students may wish to wear Halloween costumes. At recess and lunchtime, we will also hold a disco in the Multi-Purpose room.
On the same day, Friday 30th October, we will celebrate all of our teachers for World Teachers’ Day. I would like to thank all of the teaching staff at Dinjerra PS for their dedication towards their students. Whether a classroom teacher, specialist teacher, intervention teacher or learning specialist, our teachers’ hard work is much appreciated. Our teachers establish and maintain connections to our students, which positively influence their learning and their experience of school. Thank you! We have some plans to honour our teachers on Friday, however we have created a Padlet Message Wall where you can follow the link below to type your thanks to any teacher.:
World Teachers’ Day Thank You Padlet
Please join me in thanking our teachers for their effort in their roles.

We are requesting the support from our family members for our upcoming fundraiser at Bunnings Sunshine. We need volunteers to: set up, pack up, cook sausages, serve customers and manager payments. Our sign Up Link will be provided shortly.
We have a few days coming up where students are not required at school:
We are currently planning our budgets and grade structures for 2027. If you plan to leave Dinjerra at the end of year (I hope not!), could you please email me on natalie.vulic@education.vic.gov.au so that I can ensure we plan for 2027 with the correct enrolment numbers.
Josh from AFL Victoria is runing the AFL After School Clinics as per last year. Please sign up for some active fun!
