Week 8

With only three weeks remaining, it is hard to believe we are already approaching the midpoint of the year. As the colder weather sets in, it has been wonderful to see students proudly wearing their new jumpers and they look incredibly smart.
By now, many of you will have already attended or scheduled your Student Support Group meetings. These meetings are taking place this week and next and provide a valuable opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher and gain insights into their progress. If you have not yet secured a time, please reach out to your child’s teacher to arrange one.
Semester reports are currently being finalised and will soon be available via Sentral for parents to access remotely. This is the first time we are offering this option, and considerable preparation has gone into making it possible. If you experience any issues accessing reports, please contact Brooke in the office for assistance.
Today marks the final day of the junior swimming program. Based on the enthusiastic feedback and the excitement of students—especially as they boarded the bus, it has been a great success.
Our Aerobics team continues to train diligently for their upcoming national competition in Queensland. This team has a strong history of success, and their dedication suggests they will once again represent Naranga School with pride.
At this week’s School Council meeting, we introduced a student presentation for the first time. One of our School Captains, Sophie, recorded a message with the support of a teacher, which was shared with the council. Sophie did an excellent job, impressing councilors, who are keen to see more student contributions in the future. There is even talk of the council recording a message in return.
On Wednesday evening, our Careers team hosted another successful careers event. This event continues to grow each year and plays an important role in informing students and families about post-school opportunities. More than a dozen service providers attended, sharing pathways available after Naranga School. It was particularly pleasing to see families from younger year levels attending to gain early insights into future possibilities.
Friday morning basketball has now concluded for the term. This long-standing program continues to provide students with valuable social and sporting experiences. Students not only enjoy playing the game but also develop focus, discipline, teamwork, and good sportsmanship. They also gain resilience by learning to cope with both winning and, occasionally, losing.
I am sure the next three weeks will pass quickly as we continue a busy and productive term.
Silent Auction
Member of School Council
I’m Jim Browne serving a second term on school council. I have a grandson Levi at Naranga and wanted to help in some way in his education, having served on several school councils for my children from kindergarten, primary then secondary school and with my daughter being unable to take on the roll I did .
I am proud of the achievements council have done and the professionalism of staff and hope I can contribute to further in my roll on school council.
