Hello Roxburgh Homestead Community,
That weather has really turned, hasn’t it? There have been some seriously cold mornings over the past fortnight, and I hope you have all been keeping warm!
End of Semester 1 Reports - Simplified
As you’ve likely seen in the media and through previous communications put out by the school, there have been various forms of industrial action this term by education staff as part of negotiating work conditions within a new agreement. One facet of this you will notice at the end of the term is through the report your child will receive. Though teachers are still required to provide a progression point (number score) for your child against the Victorian Curriculum, they will not be providing written content within these reports. This is a condition imposed by the Australian Education Union on all schools in the state, not just something we are doing here at Roxburgh Homestead Primary School.
Despite this, as they usually do at this time of year, our teachers have been testing and moderating student work samples to ensure that the progression points on these reports are accurate and supported by the work your child has been producing in class. As always, if you require further information about your child’s progress, you can reach out to the school or your child’s classroom teacher to set up a meeting at a mutually convenient time at any stage throughout the year.
Breakfast Club and Food Bank Cooking Classes
I am loving seeing so many families engage with some of the extra programs being ran by our school recently. It has been wonderful to see families joining us in the morning for breakfast in our student run Breakfast Club. We’ve also seen families come and join us for cooking classes provided by Foodbank after school as well. If you have feedback on any of these programs, or know of a program you’d like to see running at our school, please reach out to the office – we’d love to hear from you.
2027 Enrolments
Finally, you have probably spotted a few billboards going up around the community, letting everyone know about our wonderful school. We’ve received quite a few enrolments already for 2027, so if you have a child or know someone who has a child who be joining us next year, please get in touch with the office for enrolment information.
Keep smiling and keep warm!
