Prep Palm Sunday Liturgy
On Friday, our Prep students led us in a beautiful and reverent presentation to help prepare our school community for Palm Sunday. Through their words, actions and symbols, they shared the story of Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem, reminding us of the joy and hope of the people who welcomed Him with palm branches, as well as the deeper journey that leads us into Holy Week.
Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week in the Catholic tradition. It invites us to reflect on Jesus being welcomed as a king, while also preparing our hearts for the events of His Passion, Death and Resurrection. It is a powerful reminder of faith, humility and the kind of love Jesus calls us to show others.
We extend our sincere thanks to Amanda Hill and our Prep teachers for the care and dedication they put into preparing the students for this special presentation. We are also incredibly proud of our Prep students who presented so confidently and thoughtfully. What a wonderful way to lead our community in prayer and reflection.
Thank you as well to the parents who joined us. Your presence and support help make these moments even more meaningful for our students and our school community.
Caritas - The Big Water Walk
We are incredibly proud of our students and parent community for their generous support of our recent fundraising effort. Together, we not only reached our goal of $500, but surpassed it with an outstanding achievement of $625. This important initiative supports people in communities across Africa, Asia and the Pacific who must walk long distances each day to access clean water. Through your efforts, every step taken and every dollar raised helped to create lasting change. Your generosity will contribute to improving access to safe water and empowering communities to build healthier, more sustainable futures.
Thank you to our students for their enthusiasm and commitment, and to our families for your continued support. This is a wonderful example of living out our values and making a real difference in the world.
St Patricks Day on Friday, 20 March
St Patrick’s Day was a truly special experience for our school community. It was wonderful for some of our Year 6 leaders to represent our school at the Mass in the city, travelling together by train with Mel and I and sharing in such a meaningful occasion. The Mass itself was both sacred and formal, made even more beautiful by the music and the angelic voices of the Avila choir. It was inspiring to gather alongside so many primary and secondary schools, all reminded of the importance of St Patrick in Melbourne. Following the celebration, our students also enjoyed participating in activities at Treasury Gardens, making it a memorable and enriching day for all.
Year 4 Eucharist Parent and Student Faith Formation Evening
We recently had a beautiful and reflective Faith Formation evening with Carlie Anderson, who led us through an experience of the Last Supper using the practice of imaginative prayer.
Imaginative prayer invites us to place ourselves within the Gospel story, engaging our senses and emotions to deepen our connection with Jesus. During the evening, families were guided to reflect on the events of the Last Supper including sharing a meal with Jesus, listening to His words and considering what this moment means in our own lives.
It was a calm and meaningful experience that allowed both parents and students to slow down, reflect, and grow in their understanding of the Eucharist.
We thank Carlie Anderson for leading us so thoughtfully, and we are grateful to all the families who attended and engaged so openly in this special time of prayer and reflection.
