Term 3 Week 6

It's great to be back at FHS after a very brief trip overseas. The image this week is the largest Viking Long House that has been rebuilt in rural Denmark, one of the stops I was lucky enough to make on my travels. A big thank you to Matt Roberts for acting as school principal for the past couple of weeks and for all the members of the school leadership who stepped up to support him in my absence.

It looks like it has been a busy week in my absence, Tuesday we had our Year level assemblies where students received a number of awards and we had House Games during the advisory session as part of our expanded house competition. The rehearsals for Unicorn Girl have been running full steam ahead and we also had Lila run a bake sale, selling a range of delicious baked goods. Our Year 10 team have also been following up on all the subject selection for VCE in 2027.

Looking ahead to next week (Book Week)

Saturday 22nd (that's tomorrow) -  9-12am. the FHS Gardening Crew are at it again.

You are welcome to drop in for some or all of that time.

You might have noticed the new plants out the front of the school which are all growing well. Unfortunately the weeds are also growing beautifully. Please join us this Saturday morning to pull out some weeds, spread some mulch and tidy things up a bit.

If you can, please bring tools, gloves and a bucket or wheelbarrow.

Monday 24th: Unicorn Girl Full Rehearsal period 2 and 3. Debating training for Year 7 and 8 students happening at Ivanhoe Grammar on Monday night - get in touch with Olivia for further details about the debating opportunities.

Tuesday 25th: Extend Media Excursion - students are attending the filming of the tv show Tipping point - say hello to Todd Woodbridge for us. Year 8 Basketball and Table Tennis are out on Tuesday as well, should be a great day talk to Shannon about what is going on.

Wednesday 26th:  Book week Book stall at lunch time, donations are open and books can be dropped off at the front office.

Thursday 27th: Book Week Dress up Day - Come to school dressed as your favourite book character. How many Cat's in Hats will we have?

Friday 28th: Book Week Spelling Bee competition - this was hotly contested last year so start practicing those difficult to spell words. Bureaucracy, chrysanthemum, mnemonic - just a couple to get you started.
