Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Carers,

This year’s Book Week parade was a spectacular success! The creativity on display was outstanding, with students showcasing a brilliant array of characters from classic tales and modern favorites alike.

Our whole-school focus on literacy wouldn't be possible without Mrs. Latto. As Literacy Leader, she poured tremendous energy into hosting a stellar week—orchestrating the parade, classroom tasks, the Book Week concert, the Premiers’ Reading Challenge, and the hugely successful Book Fair. Thank you as well to all of our dedicated staff for their wholehearted support in making reading such a celebrated part of our school culture.

Father's Day Activities next week

Next week, on Tuesday 1st September, our amazing P&F will once again host our Father’s Day Morning at school. Dads and special friends are warmly invited to join their children from 7:45am onwards to have a sweet treat in the hall and a play on the playgrounds.  For those who prefer a stronger coffee, a coffee van will also be available on the playground from 7:45am.

The classrooms will be open from 8:30am for visits.

All visitors are also invited to attend Mass with the students at 9:15am in the church.

On Wednesday 2nd September the P&F will run the Father’s Day Stall, where students can purchase thoughtful gifts. Prices range from $3–$10, so don’t forget to send a bag with your child to keep their purchases safe.

For more information, please see the Father’s Day fliers in the P&F section of this newsletter.

Dental Van

Semper Dental Van is visiting St Patrick’s Mentone on September 8th.

Students can receive a convenient, in-school dental check-up with no need to miss class or parent’s taking time off work.

Preventative dental care helps identify small issues early, before they become painful or require more extensive, costly treatment.

Eligible children may receive free dental care under the CDBS. For others, our $115 check-up is significantly less than a typical dental visit and may be claimable on private health.

Please complete your child’s consent form here:  https://semperdental.com.au/consent-form/

Upcoming School Works

During the September school holidays we will be replacing the green front fences on Childers St. as well as removing the Lilly Pilly hedges in the front garden facing Childers St.  We are also working on a project to add signs to the gates for better connection for visitors to our school.
