As stated by Campus Principal Mrs Vivienne McElwee, in her Principal's Report, 'it takes a village to bring a production of this scale to life, and we couldn’t be prouder of the hard work, dedication, and passion that everyone involved has shown'. The stunning photos taken by staff member Suzannah Milne, spread throughout this edition of the newsletter capture the outstanding professionalism and talent of our performers but behind the scenes there is another group of equally dedicated students - our Production Crew including those in the band, light and sound, prop makers, stage crew and make-up crew.
Attendance at our sewing bees was much appreciated with mothers and grandmothers and community members coming along to ensure that over 340 costumes were fitted and altered to suit each actor!!! In addition, guidance on set and prop pieces by alumni and current parents and friends ensured a stunning set with magic thrown in. Thank you!
Now that our College Musical is finished, we are preparing for our Term 4 Performing Arts Events. The End of Year Showcase will take place in Week 7 of Term 4. The theme for this performance season is "Remastered." The soundtrack will feature covers of songs and songs that have been reinterpreted by artists.
Students are already busy preparing for this performance, and we will have pieces in styles including jazz, contemporary, ballet, hip-hop, lyrical, and tap.
In this Showcase, we will be featuring some student-created pieces. We encourage and invite students to audition with their own works, the dance teaching panel will be reviewing and select the pieces to be performed.

Students from year 7 and 8 Dance Academy were fortunate to see Bangarra Dance Theatre perform 'Horizon', on a recent excursion.
The show was inspiring and thought provoking, and portrayed important stories of Maori culture. The auditorium was full of schools from across the state, and it was a great atmosphere to be a part of.
Following the performance, the students did a short analysis and had meaningful discussions about the ideas and dance practices they saw. It was an enriching experience, which exposed the students to a new artistic perspective.

There is a place between sea and sky — a sacred realm, where the sun rises and falls and the light is new.
From two of the world’s great First Nations comes a brand-new work: Horizon. Some call it a feeling, some call it the mother spirit. It’s the place where sea meets sky, the horizon we all look to, the compass that guides us home.
In our first mainstage cross-cultural collaboration, leading Māori choreographer and Arts Laureate Moss Te Ururangi Patterson joins beloved Bangarra alumna Deborah Brown. Together they guide our award-winning ensemble in stories that honour their mother countries and the spirit that calls them home.
Campus Principal Vivienne McElwee and Director Laura Washington were recently interviewed by The Age regarding the College Musical. In this interview, they shared insight about how the College Musical is put together. It was wonderful to highlight the work of our students, teachers, parents, alumni and volunteers. Congratulations to all those involved.
