Term 2 Week 8

Today I have spent the entire day with our Year 7 cohort, I have had the opportunity to learn about text response writing in 7Ys English class, discovered a range of new music artists with them in their music class, learnt how to write up a recipe with 7Z in their food class and then we created some character portraits in the style of Tim Burton in Art. I really appreciated the teachers and students allowing me to participate in the classes and get a real insight into what learning is like at FHS. Next week I will be spending a day with the Year 8s.

Despite being only a 4 day week it feels like we have managed to fit a lot into it. It has been a particularly busy week for our Year 10 students who have been completing their Semester 1 exams, filling our their work experience placement sheets and attending the Wurun subject exhibition evening that took place last night. It was great to see so many of our Year 9 and 10 students in attendance and having some really interesting conversations about their senior secondary pathways. For our Year 10 students, you will be making your VCE selections early next term so don't forget to keep those conversations going. We wish you all the best on Work Experience next week.

Our Progress reports are also being published today (apologies for the delay) these reports track our students against our mantra, Work Hard, Get Smart, Be Kind and give an indication as to how students have been travelling in their classes. They also form the basis for our end of Term awards which will be awarded at our end of term assembly.

Looking ahead to next week.

Year 10 Work Experience: Our students will be out in the wild next week so keep an eye for them at your local cafe, or kindegarten or at the Melbourne Theatre Company or working on the East-West link. Lots of great experiences will be happening.

Monday and Wednesday: Unicorn Girl Rehearsal continue. September will be here before you know it..

Wednesday: Divisional Finals for Cross Country Runners. Congratulations to everyone who made it through to the next round. Please check information about the event on Compass.

Thursday: Year 7 interschool sport - Badminton and Soccer teams are heading out on Thursday, It's going to be pretty quiet here with the 7s and the 10s away on Thursday.

Friday: Victorian Maths Challenge continues - Our super mathematicians are up again on Friday competing with over 200 other teams from around the state. May your numbers always add up.
