Principal's Address

Hello to all Moonie Families and Community,

Term 3 – Week 10

As we finish Term 3, I would like to thank everyone for an amazing term. Our school has been full of energy, learning, and community spirit, and I’m so proud of what we have achieved together.

This week, our students shone brightly during our Book Week Parade with an incredible array of costumes and a strong love for reading on display. Thank you to the parents who came to school to celebrate with us. We also celebrated science in style with our Science Extravaganza, which was filled with curiosity, creativity, and hands-on fun.

This week we have had a reported suspected case of Hand, Foot and Mouth in the school. Please be aware of symptoms and act accordingly.

Looking ahead to Term 4, please note that Parent–Teacher Interviews will be held in Week 2 (Wednesday and Thursday). Families will receive communication in Week 1 to secure an interview time with Miss Kylie or myself. Swimming lessons will also commence in Week 2 with Miss Lucy.

There are extremely important Blue Card changes coming from 20 September.

These changes include:

  • parent volunteers will require blue cards if:
    • services or activities do not include their own child (eg. Tuckshop, Reading etc)
    • they attend overnight excursions or camps
    • close personal contact may occur with another child (such as assisting with toileting, bathing or dressing).
  • external businesses providing services in schools or to children will need a blue card.

For more information about the upcoming changes, visit the Queensland Government website: https://www.qld.gov.au/law/laws-regulated-industries-and-accountability/queensland-laws-and-regulations/regulated-industries-and-licensing/blue-card-system-changes

These changes are going to affect the majority of our school parents so if you can please arrange a volunteer Blue Card (there is no cost for a volunteer card) as soon as possible to eliminate any issues within our school. Once you receive your card can you please bring it to the school so that we can add you to our register.

I wish all of our families a safe and happy holiday break. Thank you for your continued support, and I look forward to welcoming everyone back for a fantastic Term 4.

Warm regards,

Anna Jones
