Father's Day Games Afternoon

What a sensational turn up we had last Friday afternoon as we celebrated our Dads, Granddads and significant men in our lives. It was a wonderfully engaging afternoon with Dads and grandads sharing in a BBQ and range of tabloid sports/ activities with their children. My thanks to the school staff who generously supported the event. How blessed were we with the weather!

Staffing

In a further update to our staffing Nick Hoare has decided that after his leave in Term 4, he will not return to SJV.  Whilst he will pursue employment in or outside the education sector, his contribution to our school has been immense. Nick came to SJV in 2013 and has worked a classroom teacher and as a ICT / Digitech specialist and leader.

His encouraging, caring nature together with his brilliant expertise as an educator has endeared him to so many students/ families past and present.  He has been a wonderful colleague and will be sorely missed.  We hope to see Nick at the Graduation later this year.

We wish Nick every blessing.

Sarah Counihan who is an experienced and enthusiastic teacher will continue in 2026 taking Library lessons and  Georgina Laming  will take the role of Digi Tech Specialist and Leader. Georgina and Sarah will work very closely together in their planning.

Also please note that Carlie Dowley our wonderful Performing Arts Specialist will be on leave from next Tuesday 16th September and will return to school on Thursday 30th October. We are delighted that Beth Lacey will return to SJV take the majority of Carlie's leave.

  • Students who bring their own bike and helmet will need to bring them to school every Monday or Tuesday for the duration of the program.
  • There are enough school bikes and helmets available for any student who does not have their own or prefers to borrow one.

MACS - Survey

Due to be completed by Friday 19 September, 2025.

In 2025, our school is participating in Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools – School Improvement Surveys (MACSSIS). MACSSIS is an annual process whereby schools listen to the thoughts and feelings that students, families and staff have about how their school can improve. These surveys help inform the ongoing improvement of schools across the Archdiocese of Melbourne.

One of the main goals of the family survey is to identify the strengths and areas for improvement in our school.

Grade 4 Avila Experience Day

Last Thursday all our Grade 4 girls went to Avila College to experience what High School is like.

'When we went to Avila college we decorated delicious looking cookies, did a cool experiment and looked through their art gallery. Avila was so fun I can’t wait a second longer to graduate from primary school!🎓'Georgia
