The results are in from last week’s Battle of the Bands at Penola Catholic College, and our students did us proud! A special congratulations goes to Nathan Y, who impressed the judges with his electric violin performance and was recognised with the Individual Encouragement Award, a fantastic achievement that reflects his talent and dedication. We also applaud all our talented participants who took to the stage and represented the College so well.
Next up, we can look forward to seeing all our rock bands perform at Out of the Blue at the Bowery Theatre. Don’t miss it – booking details are below.

Last week the Year 5 and 6 cast presented three performances of Frozen Kids. The packed audiences were loud in their appreciation of our young stars.
A huge vote of thanks to Mrs McCarthy, Ms Eilis, Mr Almery and Ms Borg for their invaluable support of the students.

This week Gravity Band performed at the Victorian Schools Music Festival. They achieved a “gold” rank. See the Middle School page for a report.

On Monday there were two very special concerts held at the Brimbank Salvation Army that demonstrated the musical development that occurs in a student’s education.
Luminescent Strings featured the College string ensembles. We heard performances from the Suzuki Strings - children who started their string instrument this year, and from those who have been learning for many years performing in the String Orchestra, There was also a performance from Orffestra featuring mallet, tuned percussion, guitar, violins and drums.
At the Winds of Radiance concert, the College bands took to the stage. The Burrito, Gravity and Symphonic Bands performed, as did the Little Big Band and the Year 9 Music Group. The climax of the evening was a performance from the combined Gravity and Symphonic Bands featuring 70 performers!
Audience members at both concerts appreciated the skill and commitment of the musicians. Thanks are due to Mrs Prue Jury, the College Ensemble Leaders and to all the directors of the groups that performed.
