P&F NEWS...

Merry Christmas from the P & F Committee

We have enjoyed another wonderful year of exciting events for our children here at St Mary’s. The main purpose of our committee is to organise, support, and run activities that provide special opportunities for our students—such as hot food days, stalls, classroom celebrations, out-of-hours events, and many more memorable experiences.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has helped organise an event this year. Without those willing to put up their hand, these events simply wouldn’t be possible.

A big thank you also goes to the many parents, grandparents, and family members who generously volunteered their time. Whether you helped for the first time, attend regularly, or step in whenever needed, we truly appreciate each and every one of you.

Planning whole-school events is a team effort and involves a great deal of work. If you have any feedback or suggestions, please feel free to contact the Committee directly. At times, feedback does not reach us, so we encourage you to speak with us—we truly value hearing from all our families. A great way to have input on the type of events we have is to come along to our first meeting early in Term 1.

Disco

Last Friday, the P & F hosted our annual school disco, and this year we decided to combine all year levels into one event. The disco was very close to being cancelled or postponed to next year due to a shortage of organisers, but thanks to the dedication of Angela and the parent volunteers who stepped in at short notice, the event was able to go ahead. We are incredibly grateful for their time, effort, and enthusiasm.

The disco remains one of our students’ most loved events, and we want to ensure it continues to be a highlight each year. To make this possible, we encourage many more volunteers to get involved next year.

St Mary’s Street Library

We are excited to share that our new Street Library has been installed on Mansfield Street, located between the School Office and the Hall. This wonderful addition to our school community is the result of the 2024 Rossmoyne Rummage event. Thank you to both Ms Tania and Ms Poppy for liaising with the students and designing and painting the library.

The Street Library is a children’s community library, and we invite all families to stop by, explore the collection, and see if there is a book your child would like to borrow or keep. If you would like to contribute books, we kindly ask that any fiction, non-fiction, or novels donated are suitable for children.

Enjoy exploring the library, and happy reading!

St. Mary’s Staff Lunch

Last Friday, the P & F expressed our appreciation for the St Mary’s staff by providing morning tea and lunch. It was a lovely opportunity to show our thanks for their hard work and dedication throughout the year. Thanks to Terese for coordinating the event.

Grade 6

Congratulations to the Grade 6 graduating class. We hope their celebrations go wonderfully, and we wish them all the very best as they take the next step in their schooling journey. Alongside our graduating students, we also acknowledge the parents and families who have been an important part of the P & F committee and group over the years.

A special thank you goes to the Graduation Committee; Lisa, Sonia, Malissa, Anna and Marie, who organised the celebrations for our students and their families. Your hard work and dedication are truly appreciated.

We thank all those who have helped out at our events and are leaving us at the end of this year. We do have some special mentions:

Sonia Biewer, we thank her for being a part of most of our events over the years. Even if Sonia wasn’t a volunteer, we’d almost always get a message to say that she was available if an extra pair of hands was needed. Thank you Sonia especially for your involvement in both our Mother’s and Father’s day morning events as well as the stalls.

Sophie Goldsmith, we thank her for being one of the parents who established our second-hand uniform shop which is a wonderful resource for our families. Sophie, all your efforts at previous Fete and events are appreciated.

Christmas Market and Carols

The P & F are hosting a sausage sizzle at the End of Year Christmas Market this Wednesday 5.00-6.00pm. Thank you to Matt, Natasha and John for coordinating this event. We are still looking for a few more helpers to serve and sell. Please email us if you can help.

Thank You, Amanda Gill

Over the years, Amanda has been the key staff member liaising between the school and the P & F group. Her support, communication, and willingness to work alongside us have played an important role in ensuring our events run smoothly and successfully. Thank you, Amanda, for your dedication and for helping strengthen the connection between our committee and the school community.

We cannot finish up without expressing our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Mandy Rio as she embarks on her new journey at St Joseph’s. Mandy will be greatly missed at St Mary’s and by the P & F. She has been a wonderful support—always willing to step in and help whenever needed, and always with a smile on her face.
