7–8 Campus News

Cody Gunn I Year 7–8 Campus Principal

As we approach the end of a very busy and productive term, I would like to take the opportunity to thank our students, families and staff for the positive way our community has begun the year. It has been wonderful to see students settling into routines, engaging in their learning and contributing positively to our school culture.

This term, we are pleased to introduce the members of our Year 7 leadership team. Monique, Alex, Isabel and Daea have been working closely with our Year 7 students to support their transition into secondary school and help establish strong learning and wellbeing routines.

The beginning of secondary school is an important time for students as they build new friendships, develop independence and learn new expectations. The Year 7 team has done a fantastic job supporting students during these early weeks and ensuring they feel welcomed and supported.

We would also like to welcome Indigo to the Year 8 team. Indigo has already begun working with students and staff, and we are excited to have them supporting the continued growth and development of our Year 8 cohort.

YEAR 7 CAMP

Our Year 7 students recently attended their camp, a fantastic opportunity to build friendships, develop independence, and challenge themselves through a range of outdoor activities. Camps play an important role in helping students connect with their peers and teachers, and it was wonderful to see the enthusiasm and teamwork demonstrated by our newest cohort.

A big thank you to the staff who supported and supervised the camp, making the experience possible.

NAPLAN

Students in Years 7 and 9 participated in NAPLAN assessments over the past month.

We thank students for approaching the assessments with maturity and effort. We look forward to the results later this year.

HARMONY DAY

Our school community celebrated Harmony Day on 19 March, recognising the diversity of cultures within our community. The day provided a great opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the many backgrounds, languages and experiences that enrich our school. Harmony Day reminds us of the importance of respect, inclusion and belonging for all members of our community.

OPEN NIGHT

Our annual College Open Night will be held on Thursday, 30 April. This evening is a wonderful opportunity for prospective families to explore our facilities, meet our staff and students, and learn more about the programs we offer.

If you know families considering secondary schooling in the future, we encourage you to invite them to attend.

HOUSEKEEPING REMINDERS

Over the holiday period it is important to think about the reminders listed below for all members of the school community.

Drop off & Parking: We ask families to please be mindful of local residents and traffic conditions when dropping off or collecting students. Lansell Avenue and our staff car park are not the location to be dropping off students.

Please avoid stopping in unsafe areas and ensure driveways remain clear.

Locker Bay Expectations: Students are reminded to keep locker areas tidy and move promptly between classes. Our locker bay space will now become an out of bounds area during break until we are confident it will be looked after. Student will need to move in and out to grab their lunch and belongings. It will not be a hang out zone moving forward.

Maintaining clean and orderly spaces helps create a safe and respectful environment for everyone.

Attendance: Regular attendance is one of the strongest contributors to student success. We encourage families to support students in attending school every day unless they are unwell. If your child is absent, please ensure the absence is recorded through the appropriate channels.

Lateness: A gentle reminder to all families about the importance of punctuality. Arriving to school and class on time helps students settle into routines and be ready to engage in their learning from the very beginning of each lesson. When students arrive late, they can miss important instructions or key learning at the start of the class, which may impact their progress and can disrupt the learning environment for others. Developing strong habits around punctuality supports students to build responsibility, respect for others’ time, and positive routines that benefit them both at school and beyond.

Winter Uniform Reminder: As the weather cools, students are reminded that the winter uniform will be required next term. Please ensure uniforms are organised over the break so students are ready for the start of Term 2.

Thank you again to our students, families and staff for their ongoing support this term. We wish everyone a safe and restful easter break and look forward to welcoming students back for another productive term ahead.
