We are delighted to celebrate several exciting achievements and creative developments across the ADT Domain.
Congratulations to Dylan Hopkins, who has been selected for the prestigious Top Arts: VCE Season of Excellence 2026 exhibition at the NGV Ian Potter Centre, Federation Square. Top Arts celebrates the highest-achieving VCE Art students from across Victoria, and Dylan’s interactive digital animation “Flow”, created for Art Making and Exhibiting, was chosen for this highly competitive exhibition. The Top Arts exhibition runs from 13 March to 19 July 2026 and is free for the public to visit.
In further exciting news, Kai Munro, Nico Maltarollo and Dylan Hopkins had artworks selected for the TARGET: Bayside Art and Design Students Exhibition at the Bayside Gallery in Brighton earlier this year. The exhibition showcased exceptional work from VCE and IB students across the Bayside area. Sandringham College was proudly one of only two government schools represented, highlighting the exceptional quality of work produced by our students.
These achievements are a testament to the creativity, dedication and talent of our students, as well as the guidance of their teacher Kylie Maltarollo. We are incredibly proud of Kai, Nico and Dylan and congratulate them on these remarkable accomplishments.
Our Art Academy (Years 7–9) has also started the year exceptionally well. This year we experienced an unprecedented level of interest in the program, which is fantastic to see and reflects the growing enthusiasm for the visual arts among our students. Those who were selected through the application and interview process should feel very proud of their achievement.
This term, Art Academy students have been exploring the creative medium of printmaking. They began by developing carving skills using rubber blocks, before moving on to etching techniques. Students have now progressed to linocut printmaking, where they are experimenting with reduction lino printing—a more advanced process that involves carving and printing multiple layers to build colour and imagery.
The Art Academy program is led by Penny Fernandez and Joanna Pham and it has been wonderful to see students experimenting with materials, developing their skills, and building confidence in this traditional and expressive artmaking process.
These achievements and learning experiences reflect the creativity, dedication and enthusiasm of our students, supported by the expertise and passion of our ADT teaching team.
