School and Community Library Program
Happy new year everyone! It’s so lovely to be back! There are lots of exciting things happening in and around the library this year that we can't wait to share with you! Here we gooooooooo...
Every Friday morning (beginning next Friday 13th) I’ll be sharing stories and songs (perhaps even doing some dancing - eek) at the blocks behind Alfa Yarraville. We will then have a walking school bus back to school. Storytime will run from 8 - 8.30 and Alfa have very kindly offered free babychinos with every coffee purchased during story time. Spread the word! If you have any faves that you think we should share come and find me after a session or email library@sayarraville.catholic.edu.au

We begin our kinder, preschool and playgroup story time sessions in March! Local kinders are already signing up for a story time session - how wonderful! If you belong to a playgroup or kinder or know one that would like to visit our library for some stories (or have us visit them!), reach out and let us know at library@sayarraville.catholic.edu.au. Each child gets a showbag and the kinder or playgroup has the option of borrowing from our wonderful library collection.

Are you reading something you want to share with people at the moment? Want to know which books your child and their friends have their heads in? Maybe you’re a grandparent or an aunt or older sister who wants to spend more (screen free) time with your child? Book club is the place for you! Come pull up a beanbag, bring along whatever you’re reading and join us for some food and fun*. No need to think too hard about whether or not you’re reading the ‘right kinds of books’ – in these primary years exposure is key. The more diverse the books we share, the more we learn.
When? Once a term. Dates for 2026 are:
Term 1 – Friday 27th March
Term 2 – Friday 19th June
Term 3 – Friday 11th September
Term 4 – Friday 11th December
Where? St Augustine’s School Library
Time? 3.30 – 5.00 (food arrives at 4.30).

We are now accepting donations for our annual second hand book sale! If you have books that are in good condition and worth a gold coin, we want them! Email Kat on library@sayarraville.catholic.edu.au to organise drop off for bulk donations. Alternatively, pop them in the tub outside the library.
That's all for this newsletter.
Keep smiling.
