At Ivanhoe Primary School, our students benefit every day from the strong partnership between families, staff, and the wider community—something that truly makes our school a special place to learn and grow.

Every year on the 11th of November, people all around Australia and many other countries stop for one minute of silence at 11 o’clock. This moment is called Remembrance Day.
This year is even more significant as we commemorate 80 years since the end of WW2.
Remembrance Day is a time to remember and honour the men and women who have served in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping missions. Some of these people gave their lives to protect others and to help create a more peaceful world.
The red poppy flower is a symbol of Remembrance Day. Poppies grew on the battlefields after World War I, and they remind us of hope, courage, and the importance of peace.
When we pause for our minute of silence, we show respect and gratitude for those who served and for the freedoms we have today. It’s also a time to think about how we can help make the world a kinder, fairer, and more peaceful place.
The Canberra Tour provided a valuable opportunity for our Year 6 students to deepen their understanding of civics and citizenship through firsthand experiences at key national institutions. Teachers and parent volunteers can report that students engaged positively, demonstrated curiosity, and represented the school with pride.
The Democracy Projects the students have developed attest not only to the value of the expereience but also the new learning that is occuring as a result. If you didn't get an opportunity to visit the Year 6 Democracy Expo check out the Student Voice page to see some of their work.

We love reading at IPS. At our last assembly we heard that in the Premiers Reading Challenge over 3500 books were read. I think Schoolastic has been around since I was at school and they're still going. Their catalogue is great, their prices are reasonable, and it's an easy way to get some books in front of your child.

Our School Council has ratified the school uniform policy which sets out the expected requirements for students and covers both appearance and dress code. The policy acknowledges and respects the rights of individual students whilst reflecting the values and interests of our community.
The Student Dress Code aims to:
As we move closer towards the end of the school year, we've noticed that some older students have been wearing make-up to school. Our policy sets out standards of general appearance. This covers cosmetics and make-up. Please take some time remind your child that make up is not permitted to be worn at school including mascara.
Our School Uniform policy can be found on our website or downloaded below.
Thank you for your continued support.
