Principal's News

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back to Term 4!

Colac Kids Festival

A special thank you to Byrony Lappas, Emilee Edney and Samantha Nowell for organising the Beauty Stall at the Colac Kids Festival last week.  It was a wonderful success, with so many children and families enjoying the chance to drop by. It was fantastic to see our school involved in such a positive community event, as it provided lots of entertainment for kids throughout the day. Thank you also to all of our students who helped out on the day.  A big acknowledgment also goes to Josiah from the Salvation Army, whose drive and commitment made the day possible.

Grandparents Day- Friday, 16th October, from 10:15 am

This year, we're changing the timing of our much-loved Grandparents Day. Rather than running in the middle of the day as in previous years, Grandparents Day will now take place in the morning, so it flows more naturally with our normal school routine.

Important: Please do not park in the customer parking area in front of Triggy's Shop.

We're really looking forward to welcoming grandparents to Sacred Heart to celebrate this special day with our students.

Class Placement - Requests for 2027

The Leadership Team, in collaboration with classroom teachers, will soon begin considering class groupings for 2027. Classroom teachers have not yet been finalised, and current staffing arrangements may change for a range of reasons.

Major factors influencing class placement decisions include academic ability, social and emotional needs, peer dynamics, and gender balance.

If there is something significant you believe we need to know, please email it to me in writing at principal@shcolac.catholic.edu.au  by October 23rd. Please note:

  • Requests must relate specifically to an impact on your child's learning — not simply a wish for your child to be with a particular friend or teacher.
  • We will not accept requests for a specific teacher.
  • We cannot guarantee that any request can be accommodated.
  • We cannot meet every request, but we assure you that we make every effort to create fair and equitable class lists.

Teachers put considerable time, care and thought into these decisions, taking all relevant factors into account. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with this process.

Kind regards,

Karl Dwyer
