Principal's Desk

Dear Families,
I hope that all families enjoy the weekend ahead and the Melbourne Cup public holiday. A timely break for many as we prepare to launch into the ‘busyness’ of November and December. Please note that Monday 2nd November (Cup Eve) the school will be closed for all students. The office will not be open. Students will return to school after Cup Day on Wednesday 4th November.
We keep all Year 12 students, especially those connected to our Holy Trinity families, in our thoughts and prayers as they begin their exams today. We pray that God blesses them with calm minds, confidence in their abilities, and strength to do their best. May they feel the support of their families and community, and know that God walks with them through this important time and into the next stage of their journey.
Congratulations Chelsi & Nathan
We are delighted to share some wonderful news with our Holy Trinity community! Chelsi Taylor and her husband Nathan are expecting their first baby in April 2027! This is such an exciting time for Chelsi and Nathan as they prepare to welcome a new addition to their family, and we couldn't be happier for them both. Chelsi will continue teaching at Holy Trinity until
the end of Term 1, 2027, before commencing maternity leave. I'm sure you will join me in congratulating Chelsi and Nathan and wishing them every blessing as they prepare for this wonderful new chapter in their lives.
A very exciting few months ahead!
Prep 2027
As we continue preparing for the 2027 school year, I am delighted to announce that Olivia Cowie will be our Prep teacher next year!
Olivia is already a valued member of our Holy Trinity teaching team, and we are thrilled that she will be taking on this important role, welcoming our newest students and families into our school community. Starting school is such a significant milestone for children and their families, and we know that Olivia's warmth, enthusiasm and commitment to student learning and wellbeing will help ensure our newest students have a wonderful beginning to their primary school journey.
Please join me in congratulating Olivia on her appointment. We look forward to an exciting year ahead for our 2027 Preps!
Welcome to Our 2027 Preps! 🎒🌟
There was plenty of excitement (and perhaps a few nervous smiles!) at Holy Trinity this afternoon as we welcomed our 2027 Prep students for their very first transition session! It was wonderful to see our newest students beginning to explore their new school, meeting some new friends and getting a little taste of what life at Holy Trinity will be like next year.
Starting school is such an important milestone, not just for our children, but for their families too. Our transition program is designed to help our future Preps feel comfortable, confident and excited about the journey ahead, while giving families the opportunity to begin building connections with our school community.
A very warm welcome to all our new families joining Holy Trinity in 2027. We look forward to getting to know you over the coming weeks and working together as your children begin this exciting new chapter. We can't wait to see all those smiling faces again at our next transition session!
World Teachers’ Day
This Friday, 30 October, we celebrate World Teachers' Day across Australia, a wonderful
opportunity to recognise and thank the dedicated teachers and support staff who make Holy Trinity such a special place to learn and grow.
Teaching is so much more than delivering lessons. Every day, our staff inspire curiosity, build confidence, nurture friendships, celebrate achievements and support children through challenges. They are educators, mentors, encouragers and, quite often, the people who help our children see possibilities in themselves that they may not yet recognise.
Behind every classroom lesson, learning experience and school activity is an enormous amount of planning, preparation, care and commitment. Much of this work happens quietly, often beyond the school day, but it all contributes to creating the welcoming, supportive and engaging learning environment we value at Holy Trinity.
As a Catholic school, we recognise that education is not simply about academic achievement, but also about helping children grow into compassionate, respectful and responsible young people. Our teachers and support staff bring this mission to life each day, demonstrating what it means to Love One Another and Make a Difference.
I am incredibly proud of the dedicated and passionate team we have at Holy Trinity, and I know how fortunate our children are to be surrounded by people who genuinely care about their learning, wellbeing and development. To our wonderful teachers and support staff, thank you for all that you do, both seen and unseen.
To our families, I encourage you to take a moment this Friday to acknowledge the teachers and staff who make a difference in your child's life. A simple word of thanks, a kind message or a heartfelt acknowledgement can mean more than you might realise.
A special thank you to our wonderful parents and families for the amazing morning tea that was delivered and shared with staff yesterday in celebration of World Teachers' Day. It was such a thoughtful and generous gesture, and one that was genuinely appreciated by everyone. The delicious treats were certainly enjoyed, but even more meaningful was the kindness and appreciation behind them. We are incredibly fortunate to have such a supportive and caring parent community, and gestures like this remind our staff just how valued they are. Thank you for making us feel so special!
Happy World Teachers' Day!
Mini Vinnies - Christmas Appeal
Our wonderful Mini Vinnies team is once again spreading Christmas cheer and making a difference to those in need! Families are reminded that there are several ways to support this year's Christmas Appeal, including our Guess the Lollies in the Jar competition, Zooper Dooper sales in Week 7, Christmas Outfit Day on Friday 4th December, and our Wishing Tree, where families can donate a small gift to someone in need. Every contribution, big or small, helps spread kindness and brings joy to others this Christmas. Thank you for supporting our Mini Vinnies students as they put our school motto, Love One Another, into action!
Guessing how many lollies are in the jar will take place on Thursday 29th of October at the start of second play, outside the Prep Classrooms. Students can bring $2 if they would like to have a guess.
Italian Day – A Journey Back to Ancient Rome!
Last Monday, Holy Trinity was transformed into Ancient Rome as we celebrated our annual Italian Day!
It was wonderful to see so many students (and staff!) embrace the theme, arriving dressed as Roman emperors, gladiators, gods and goddesses, along with plenty of Italian colours. The day was filled with fun, laughter and learning as students participated in a range of engaging activities celebrating Italian language, history and culture.
A very special thank you to Signora Josie Formichelli, who put an enormous amount of time, energy and creativity into planning and organising such a fantastic day. Events like these don't just happen, and we are incredibly grateful for Josie's enthusiasm, dedication and commitment to providing memorable learning experiences for our students.
Thank you also to our wonderful staff for supporting the activities throughout the day, and to our families for getting into the spirit with some fabulous costumes!
Grazie mille, Signora, for another wonderful Italian Day!
PA - Cadbury Fundraiser
A big thank you to all families who have supported our Parents Association's Cadbury Chocolate Fundraiser! Your generosity and willingness to help raise funds for our school are greatly appreciated.
Chocolate boxes will be sent home tomorrow, Wednesday 28th October, with the eldest child in each family. Each box includes an envelope for collecting money, which is to be returned to school by Friday 20th November. Please ensure your child's name is clearly written on the envelope.
Alternatively, families can pay for their entire box ($60) via CDFpay from Friday 30th October.
Thank you again for supporting our PA and helping make a difference to our school community!
School Advisory Council Vacancies
The School Advisory Council (SAC) provides a forum for discussion and discernment, where the parent/guardian voice and perspective are available to inform and support the decisions made by the Principal and Parish Priest for the good of School and Parish where the wellbeing and outcomes for students is paramount. The role is to give consideration to, and advice on, important School matters in order to support the Principal in the context of the MACS governance arrangements.
We are seeking new SAC Members for the 2027-2029 period, from a mixture of year levels and professional backgrounds. More information regarding the SAC can be found in its Terms of Reference. If you have an interest in being on the SAC, any of the existing members would be happy to be contacted and discuss the commitment involved. If you would like to be involved in the SAC, please complete your details in the attached form and we will be in touch shortly.
Halloween Jokes of the Week
Why do demons and ghouls hang out together?
Because demons are a ghoul’s best friend!
How do you fix a broken jack-o’-lantern?
With a pumpkin patch.
Where do ghosts like to travel on vacation?
The Dead Sea.
Final Thoughts~ The Empty Jar
Imagine beginning each year with an empty jar. Every time something good happens, you write it on a small piece of paper and place it inside.
It might be a family celebration, a funny comment from your child, a personal achievement, a thoughtful gesture from a friend or simply a beautiful day spent together.
By the end of the year, that jar becomes a collection of memories and reminders of all the good things that have happened, many of which we might otherwise have forgotten.
It's easy to remember the things that go wrong. The difficult days, disappointments and challenges often take up more space in our minds than they deserve. Yet, when we deliberately look for the positives, we begin to notice just how many there are.
As we enter the final months of 2026, perhaps it's worth starting a gratitude jar at home. You don't need to wait until January!
Sometimes the smallest moments turn out to be the biggest blessings.
