Table Tennis Teams Serve Up a Double Victory!

It was a fantastic day for Brentwood SC table tennis, with both our A and B teams taking out the Monash Division Tournament at Dandenong Table Tennis!

Our teams showed excellent skill, determination and teamwork throughout the competition, recording impressive wins against Wellington SC, John Monash Science School, Wellington SC and South Oakleigh SC. Both teams performed consistently under pressure and demonstrated the high standard of table tennis talent we have here at Brentwood SC.

The competition for a place on the team was incredibly strong, with more than 25 boys attending try-outs. With such a talented group of players to choose from, selecting the final teams was no easy task, making the success on the day even more impressive.

A huge thank you to Lisa Lau for coaching the teams and sharing her expertise throughout the tournament. Her knowledge, encouragement and guidance were invaluable in helping our players perform at their best.

Congratulations to all the players involved on an outstanding achievement. A and B teams – Monash Division champions!

Monash Division Champions!

Our girls represented Brentwood with determination, skill and great sportsmanship at the recent competition Monash Division round robin day.

They got off to a fantastic start, defeating South Oakleigh and Wellington 6–0. Their next match against John Monash was a much tougher contest, with longer rallies and some very close games, but the girls held their nerve to secure a 4–2 victory.

Finishing first in the round robin competition meant a repeat match against John Monash to determine the overall winner. Once again, our Brentwood girls stepped up and were victorious!

A fantastic team effort and a well-deserved result. We are incredibly proud of you all!

The girls have now qualified for the EMR competition later this year.

Year 8 Boys Badminton

Congratulations to our Year 8 Boys Badminton team who recently competed at the EMR competition!

Coached by Jordan Lam, Wilson Liu and Oliver Lo, the boys were ready to compete and made an impressive start, defeating Ringwood SC 6–0 before backing it up with another 6–0 victory over Lilydale Heights.

Their final pool match against Vermont was a closely fought contest, with some fantastic rallies and very competitive points. Despite going down 1–5, the boys finished second in their pool, qualifying for the crossover semi-final against pool winners East Doncaster.

The competition continued to be strong, with some impressive badminton and exciting rallies. Unfortunately, our boys were defeated by the eventual EMR champions on the day.

A fantastic effort from the team and a great experience competing at the EMR level. Well done, boys!

Year 7 Girls Badminton

Congratulations to our Year 7 Girls Badminton team, who recently competed at the EMR competition in Kilsyth.

Heading into the day, the girls knew they needed to perform at their best in their three pool matches to secure a place in the crossover semi-finals. They certainly delivered, defeating Melba College 6–0 and Lilydale Heights 6–0, before putting up a strong fight against Glen Waverley. Despite being narrowly defeated 2–4, the girls finished second in their pool and progressed to the semi-finals.

This set up a tough final match against Balwyn High School, who had finished top of their pool. The girls competed brilliantly, with several very close matches, and while our EMR journey ended there, they should be incredibly proud of their efforts.

A huge thank you to our wonderful student coaches, Ker Nee Chai, Emily Xu & Mia Zhang, who have guided and supported the team throughout their journey – from school trials, to becoming Monash Division Champions, and then progressing through to the EMR semi-finals. Their leadership and encouragement have been fantastic.

Well done, girls, on an outstanding season. I look forward to seeing what we can achieve when we return in 2027 – more determined than ever!
