Dear parents and carers,

Spring has certainly sprung, with a typical four seasons in one day today! It’s been terrific to see students being sun smart by wearing their school hats.

Foundation Information Evening

On Tuesday evening we welcomed the families of our 2027 Foundation students to our annual information night. Our Foundation team did a fantastic job of talking through our transition processes, our teaching and learning program and what makes our school special. Thanks to our staff and families for investing time in this evening. It’s an important part in building positive relationships to allow our future students to flourish.

Year Six China Study Tour

Our Year Six China study tour families gathered on Wednesday afternoon for our final meeting before we head off to visit our sister school, Xurijingcheng PS, on Monday evening. The study tour will visit Beijing, Xi’an, Nanjing and Shanghai. We are excited to spend three days with our sister school and to mark the tenth year of this significant relationship. 

Amelia Busuttil, Hong Ma and I will be accompanying the students on the trip. We remain on duty during this time. Melissa Jacobs will be the Acting Assistant Principal on-site each day.

Ramps Update

Our ramps work continue. We are awaiting an engineering solution to complete the ramp to Year Five. The ramp work around our Year Four area needs cutting to be completed before the concrete can be poured.

Local Member of Parliament and Candidate Visits

This week we have appreciated both our Member for Mordialloc, the Hon. Tim Richardson, the Liberal Candidate for Mordialloc, Paul O’Halloran, and the lead Liberal candidate for the South-Eastern Metropolitan Region, Phillip Pease, visiting our school. In these meetings we have had the opportunity to share our wonderful community, highlight our teaching and learning programs, our gold-level implementation of the Positive Behaviour for Learning framework, our inclusive practices and our IB accreditation. We have also highlighted priorities, including growing our school and updating our school hall. Thank you to all three of our visitors for making time to meet with us.

Parent/Caregiver Survey

Thanks to those families who have taken the time to complete the Parent/Caregiver Opinion Survey. The survey remains open until the end of term and we are keen to hear from as many people as possible so we can understand what is working at our school and what we can continue to refine.

I will resend the survey link to parents and carers tomorrow. Thank you for taking the time to complete the survey.

We look forward to welcoming fathers and other significant people in our students’ lives tomorrow afternoon. We will begin with an assembly at 2:30pm and then students can move through the classrooms enjoying the challenges our staff have prepared. Thanks to everyone involved in organising our community event.
