What’s New @ DSC
Fresh Air for Better Learning
This week, we installed four floor-mounted Energy Recovery Ventilators (ERVs) in the Senior Centre Study Space.
The new ERVs continuously introduce fresh outdoor air while removing stale indoor air, helping to create a healthier, more comfortable environment for students to study and learn.
Supporting focus and concentration
With many students using an enclosed study space, carbon dioxide (CO₂) levels can build up quickly. Higher CO₂ levels can contribute to drowsiness, headaches and reduced concentration. The ERVs help to continuously replace stale indoor air with fresh outdoor air, supporting a more alert and focused learning environment.
Supporting a healthier learning environment
The ERVs use filtration to help remove airborne particles, including dust and outdoor allergens such as pollen. Increased air exchange also helps reduce the concentration of airborne contaminants, contributing to a cleaner and healthier indoor environment for students and staff.
Improving comfort
The ERVs also help manage indoor humidity, supporting a comfortable and stable environment throughout the year. This can help reduce the effects of overly humid conditions in warmer weather and overly dry indoor air during winter.
The installation of these systems is another step towards providing comfortable, healthy and supportive learning spaces for our students at DSC.
New Stadium Facilities
We are pleased to announce that Doncaster Secondary College has successfully secured a grant from the Northeast Community Fund to support improvements to our stadium facilities.
The grant is funding the installation of two 4.2-metre ceiling fans, as well as four new scoreboards and shot clocks for the stadium.
The new ceiling fans have now been installed and will help improve airflow and comfort in the stadium, making game days and sporting activities more enjoyable, particularly during the warmer summer months.
The new scoreboards and shot clocks are currently on their way, with installation expected to be completed in early Term 4.
We look forward to seeing these improvements in action and continuing to enhance our sporting facilities for students and the wider College community.
