As Term 3 draws to a close, we can reflect on an incredibly busy and rewarding few months at Milgate. Students across the school have embraced a wide range of experiences that have extended their learning, strengthened friendships and created many memorable moments.
Our Year 3 and 4 students demonstrated independence and resilience at camp, while Year 2 enjoyed a day of outdoor education. Year 1 students extended their classroom learning through an excursion to the museum, and our Year 5 students explored wellbeing through Tai Chi and shared their ideas and learning at the Change Makers Convention. Science incursions brought new discoveries into the school, while kinder visits helped our future Foundation students begin building a sense of familiarity and belonging at Milgate.
Students also challenged themselves through ICAS and represented Milgate proudly in district sporting events. Our Father’s Day Games Afternoon brought families together for an afternoon of fun and connection, while the P&F disco filled the school with music, dancing and plenty of excitement.
We sincerely thank our staff, families and P&F for making these opportunities possible. We are also grateful for the understanding and support shown by our parent community during the recent industrial action. Your flexibility and cooperation were greatly appreciated.
After such a full term, we hope all students, staff and families enjoy a well-earned opportunity to rest and recharge. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for an exciting final term of 2026.
Canteen Community Space Transformation
We’re delighted to share that School Council has given full approval for the redevelopment of our courtyard and canteen precinct.
The project will transform this central area of the school into a greener, more welcoming space for students to gather, eat, learn and connect. The design includes new timber seating and garden beds, natural boulder andlog seating, soft green turf and drought-tolerant planting, while maintaining open areas and clear pathways for the busy canteen precinct.
The project represents a significant investment in improving our school environment. We’re now moving into the construction tender stage and look forward to sharing further updates as the project progresses.

Senior Adventure Playground
School Council has also given approval for the full replacement and upgrade of the senior adventure playground closest to the oval. With a number of the playground sections close to the end of their life-cycle, this upgrade represents a wonderful opportunity to refresh this popular playspace with a more contempory adventure style playground.
As with the canteen community space, the school is currently at the tender stage. Plans and construction timelines will be share as soon as they are confirmed.
Special thanks to the Milgate Community as your support via Building Fund donations and school fundraisers such as the Fun Run have made these projects possible!
We’re pleased to share that, from next term, Hope OT will be based at Milgate Primary School for one day each fortnight, providing families with the opportunity to access occupational therapy support conveniently here at school.
Occupational therapists can support children across a range of areas, including emotional regulation, social skills, attention and organisation, fine and gross motor development, sensory needs, and building greater independence and confidence at school.
Having Hope OT working onsite represents another valuable addition to the broad range of student wellbeing and learning supports available at Milgate. It also provides an opportunity for therapists, families and school staff to work collaboratively to support students within their everyday school environment.
Please see the flyer below for further information about Hope OT, the services available and how families can make contact.
Congratulations to our wonderful Year 2 students, who successfully navigated their way through a range of fun and challenging camp-based activities! It was fantastic to see students embracing new experiences, working together and challenging themselves along the way.
A big thank you to our staff and parent volunteers for helping make the day such a positive, memorable and fun experience for our students. Thanks are also extended to James Will for tirelessly organising and coordinating such amazing camp experien for our students!
Next year, bring on their first overnight camp!
