Principal Update
Hello everyone,
It has been nice to have a few weeks where there have been a few less things happening and students have had some time to simply be at school, settle into routines and enjoy their learning.
Wear It Purple Day last week was amazing. It was great to see students taking part and celebrating diversity and inclusion across the school. A huge thank you to Eve and Steph, who set up a pop-up face painting stall at the front gate. It was definitely one of the highlights of my term!
There has been lots of fun happening both in learning spaces and outside. Some incredible cubbies and huts have been appearing around the yard, along with whole-school games of Giant’s Treasure and 'What’s Good?' on the oval.
Students have also been getting stuck into their learning and are excited to share what they have been working on with families and the wider community. The F/1s have been continuing their space adventures, while the 2/3s have been working hard on their dioramas and can’t wait to share them with families next week. The 5/6s have been in full production mode with their media empire and have pieces ready for publication — make sure you check out The Talkative Taradalian section of the newsletter.
Our Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 students also participated in the Interschool Sports Day today. The Year 3/4 students headed to Wesley Hill for a range of tennis and cricket activities, while the Year 5/6 students were in Castlemaine, smashing it out on the grass courts of Wimble... I mean, Castlemaine! It was a great opportunity for students to get involved, have a go and spend the day with students from other schools.
We have also had a few lunchtime clubs running over the past few weeks, which have been a great addition to our week.
Lego Club – Mondays
Kristie is running Lego Club on Monday lunchtimes. This is a safe and inclusive space for students to come together, build, create and enjoy some Lego.
Woodwork Club – Fridays
I am running Woodwork Club on Friday lunchtimes. Students have the opportunity to make some simple projects out of wood, learn new skills and practise using tools safely. We have already had some very enthusiastic builders involved!
Buildings and Grounds
The wood workshop is getting some more work done over the weekend and is inching closer to being fully operational. There are still a few tools, storage and fit-out jobs to finish, but it is exciting to see the space coming together and already starting to be used by students.
We also have a number of school maintenance projects in the pipeline. Over the coming months, the school paths will be cleared and resurfaced, ready for the warmer weather.
We currently have a short term maintenance position advertised for Term 4, which will hopefully help us knock over some of the larger jobs that have been sitting on our list, including painting, oiling the decks, general repairs, gardening and other maintenance around the school.
There is always plenty happening at Taradale, and it has been lovely to see students enjoying their learning, their friendships and all of the different spaces and opportunities around the school.
Experience Taradale Transition Sessions
We have the last of our transition sessions for this term coming up — Art with Kate!
Kate has some wonderful activities planned, and it will be a lovely opportunity for children and families to spend time at the school, get to know our staff and enjoy some creative art activities.

Free Foodbank Packs
We also have some food packages from food bank that are available for free in the Taradale produce cart. Please feel free to take one.
Breakfast Club Volunteers
We are seeking additional volunteers to help run Breakfast Club each morning from 8:30–9:00am.
Taradale Primary School participates in the Foodbank Victoria Breakfast Club program, which provides food at no cost for students. While all students are welcome, we rely on volunteers to make this possible.
If you are able to assist or would like more information, please contact the office.
OSHC (Out of School Hours Care)
OSHC is available after school each day.
