Mr Hyatt

Time Flies! (And We're Still Busy!)

It's hard to believe we're already nearing the end of March! As we approach the final two weeks of Term 1, I can't help but marvel at how quickly this year is progressing. It truly does feel like time is racing by!

Life at St Patrick's continues to be wonderfully hectic, filled with engaging learning experiences, exciting extracurricular activities, and a vibrant sense of community. From the recent parent-teacher interviews to the upcoming sporting trials and classroom projects, our school is a hub of activity.

And if you thought things would slow down, think again! The next fortnight is set to be particularly busy as we have a packed schedule of events. We're looking forward to the Da Vinci Decathlon, where our students will showcase their problem-solving and creative skills. We'll also be cheering on our athletes at the ACS Cross Country Trials in Barraba. And of course, we can't forget the much-anticipated Easter Hat Parade, along with many other exciting classroom and school-wide activities.

Crucially, we will also be immersing ourselves in the solemn and sacred observances of Holy Week. We will be engaging in activities and reflections that help us to understand and appreciate the significance of this important time in our faith.

Looking at what is happening during the next fortnight, I am starting to wonder how we are going to fit everything in! I'll work it out somehow.

Take care and I hope to catch up with everyone in the near future.

ACS Winter Trials Tomorrow

I extend my best wishes to the 16 students representing our school at the Armidale Catholic Schools Winter Trials tomorrow in Armidale. This is a fantastic opportunity for them to showcase their skills in football, netball, and hockey while competing alongside students from other schools.

I am proud of their dedication and sportsmanship and know they will give their best effort on the field and court. Good luck to all—play hard, have fun, and enjoy the experience!

Mass Tomorrow at 9.15am

Tomorrow, the students and staff of St Patrick’s Primary School will come together to celebrate Mass for the final time this term. This will also be a special occasion as it marks the first Mass with our new parish priest, Fr. Anthony. The celebration will commence at 9:15 am in the school, and we warmly invite all parents and members of our school community to join us in prayer and reflection.

I look forward to sharing this special celebration with our school community and hope to see many of you there.

I am excited to announce the launch of St Patrick’s Primary School, Walcha’s brand-new school website! Designed to be more user-friendly, informative, and engaging, the website serves as a central hub for parents, students, and the wider school community.

The new platform provides easy access to important school updates, newsletters, event calendars, and key information about our school. It also showcases our students' achievements and highlights the vibrant learning environment at St Patrick’s.

Parent-Teacher Interviews – Term 1

Today marked the final day of parent-teacher interviews for this term, bringing to a close a period of valuable communication and collaboration between educators and families. These interviews, a cornerstone of our school's commitment to student success, provided a crucial opportunity for parents and teachers to connect, share insights, and discuss the progress and development of each child.

The school extends a thank you to all the parents who took the time to participate in the interviews. Your engagement and support are invaluable in creating a positive and enriching learning environment for our students. We appreciate your commitment to working in partnership with our dedicated teachers to ensure the success of every child.

As we conclude this round of interviews, we look forward to continuing the strong partnerships we have built. The insights gained during these conversations will undoubtedly contribute to the ongoing growth and development of our students throughout the remainder of the school year.

Premier's Reading Challenge

Exciting news this year as St Patrick's students will again be participating in the Premier's Reading Challenge. We urge all students to take part.

Your child's login details will be sent home shortly. You and your child will then be required to log in, provide the child's information, so they can record their books online.

Many of the PRC books can be found in our school library, where we will encourage students to borrow them during library time. Additionally, we are introducing all students to "SORA" - an app tailored to the contemporary student reading experience. This app enables students to explore and enjoy ebooks and audiobooks from their school, for both recreational and assigned reading purposes. It also includes the PRC books. We aim to have this process completed for students very soon!

Northern NSW Da Vinci Decathlon at TAS

St Patrick's Primary School is once again participating in the Northern NSW Da Vinci Decathlon at The Armidale School in Armidale on Thursday 3rd April. Students from Year 6 will be representing our school. Due to an abundance of eligible students, we are faced with the challenge of having too many for one team and not enough for two teams. Consequently, we have a reserve list in place in case any team members withdraw.

The Decathlon is a prestigious academic event organised among schools, aiming to engage and inspire students across 10 diverse disciplines, including Mathematics, English, Science, Code Breaking, Engineering Challenge, Ideation, Creative Producer, Art and Poetry, Cartography, and Legacy. Mrs Makeham will be supervising our team on the day. We extend our heartfelt wishes for the success of our team.

The Winner of 'Wearing Uniform With Pride' Award Is.......

Nina has been awarded the highly regarded 'Wearing Uniform With Pride' award this week. With so many students showing pride in their uniforms, it becomes harder to select a winner, but Nina's dedication to both her school and sports uniforms is truly outstanding. Congratulations!
