Year 11 VM Career Expo

Last Friday we saw an amazing display of knowledge, passion and commitment during the Year 11 VCE VM Work Related Skills careers expo. Thank you to everyone who supported this event. The event was the cumulation of research into individual career pathways as part of  Unit 2 in this subject.

Here are some comments from students who participated.

“My strongest skill was making visitors feel welcome by talking to them a lot and asking them rhetorical questions and including them in conversations. This expo helped me understand how little people knew about plumbing” Henry.

“This expo helped me understand the roles and average salary of a graphic designer. My strongest presentation skill was clear speaking , confidence and friendliness” Bryce

“Presenting my career helped me understand that there are a lot of different options in the cooking industry. It also helped me understand the best types of ways of presenting information about assistant cook. “ Gabby

“Presenting my career taught me that not many year nines want to become an actor. I also learned that only the top 1% of actors make millions per project. Most rely on gig-to-gig jobs and side hustles. You can also become an actor without doing acting classes though it is significantly harder.  Despite my nerves I did really well speaking clearly and answering questions. I made sure not to sound like a robot and to listen when they asked me those questions.  I think my strongest presentation skill was the design of the stall and the presentation itself”  Tori.

“I was proud of the way I talked to people through getting their blood pressure done as some people seemed scared or had forgotten if they had done. Which made me proud of my efforts to encourage them.” Coral
