IDAHOBIT Awareness Day at Craigieburn Secondary School!
On Monday 20th May the Community and Wellbeing Team organised an event to bring awareness to IDAHOBIT Day! IDAHOBIT stands for the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia and aims to open safe spaces for belonging, learning opportunities. To build understanding and respect for people of all different sexualities and genders and growth in the community.
During the 2nd Lunch we welcomed all to enjoy fun activities such as guessing the flag, face painting, colouring, and game sheets along with prizes of cupcakes and pins! Cherishing all identities opens opportunities to continue fostering acceptance and love in the community and we wish to strive for more awesome events in the future!

Inbound Telephone Service
We are excited to announce the launch of our ‘inbound phone line’. This is a dedicated service provided by LanguageLoop to support our diverse families. Inbound will help callers to the school in a timely and effective manner, thanks to the recognition of cultural and linguistic differences.
A parent or guardian will initially be connected with an interpreter, this will then transition to a three-way call where a member of the administration team will join the conversation to assist with the inquiry.
Craigieburn Secondary College hopes to use this new service to support families seeking assistance in their preferred language. Please see below for the relevant contact telephone numbers.
Parent Compass Session for Middle Eastern Families
On Wednesday the 22nd of May, the Community and MEA Team ran a parent workshop on the subject of using Compass in Arabic. The workshop looked at how to access Compass via a mobile phone.
The workshop was delivered as a presentation in Arabic by one of our MEA team members. The workshop discussed how to use Compass via the app to access attendance information, reports and similar features.
During the workshop our staff supported all the families that attended and showed them how to install and navigate the Compass app in their preferred language.
The workshop was highly beneficial and helpful. All the families who attended expressed their gratitude. At the end of the evening, all the participants shared some refreshments and drinks.
Reclink
Craigieburn Secondary College, in partnership with Reclink Australia, has continued running a weekly after-school activity program this term to help improve physical health, mental health and social inclusion in our school community.
Our program aims to bring the community together, provide free sporting activities for students and create a space to establish new friendships.
Every term, in the school gymnasium on Mondays from 3:30pm-4:30pm, we focus on a different sport. In Term 2, we offered indoor volleyball, and this will be followed by indoor soccer.
Students from all year levels are welcome to join us! Do not miss out on the chance to be a part of this amazing opportunity. Please join us in embracing the spirit of sportsmanship and community at Craigieburn Secondary College.
