DIAMOND VALLEY DISTRICT CROSS COUNTRY CARNIVAL

On Thursday 7th May, the Greenhills Cross Country Team travelled to Bundoora Park to compete in the Diamond Valley District Cross Country Carnival.

The team finished 5th overall out of 10 schools - a fantastic achievement! Despite some of the toughest conditions we have seen in many years, with wet, cold and windy weather throughout the day, all students should be extremely proud of their performances and the way they represented the school. They consistently demonstrated our GREAT values, particularly Grit.

Congratulations and best of luck to the students who qualified for the next stage of competition, the Nillumbik Division Cross Country Carnival, by placing in the top 10 of their event.

COMMUNITY SPORTING ACHIEVEMENTS

Congratulations to these two little legends, who were both awarded Best on Ground in last weekend’s match against Heidelberg JFC!

Thomas O (2TS) was recognised for his excellent kicking, while Zac F (2MH) earned praise for his strong marking throughout the game.

Well done! 💪🏼

Crazy Coin Collection Continues.... 3 weeks to go!

We started Monday 4th of May and will be running for 4 weeks with winners announced at assembly on the 29th of May.

Week 1 winner was 2RB, well done you receive 15 minutes extra of recess time.

Continue to raid your money boxes, lift up your couch cushions, ask your grandparents, neighbours, friends. Collect all your spare change. Please send in coins of any value (5c 10c 20c 50c $1 or $2) to your child's classroom throughout the week. The money will be collected and counted at the end of each week

Help the school raise funds for additional specialist class materials.

Weekly prize - 15 mins extra playtime for the class who collects the most money each week.

Grand prize - Fish and Chip lunch for the class who collects the most money overall during the 4 weeks.

Let's make it bigger and better than last year.

CANTEEN

HELPERS NEEDED

If you have a spare hour on a Wed, Thurs or Fri between 1pm and 2pm, come along and help in the canteen. There is no food preparation involved, it's very simple and the kids love seeing parents there!

If you have SSB available, please email us with the subject of: SSB, stating which event and child you would like to use it for and that you provide consent. If this leaves any outstanding amount to pay, you will receive an email back with details to pay.

UNEXPLAINED ABSENCE/LATE ARRIVAL

From now on we will be sending alerts of unapproved absences and late arrivals on a regular basis.

If you receive this email it means we have some old unexplained absences/late arrivals in our system for your child/children, please scroll down on the letter to see the dates of concern.

If you believe your child attended school on a day detailed in the notice, please email the school to let us know, otherwise please update the details on Compass.

Students arriving late without an adult are marked Late, unexplained.

ALL STUDENTS THAT ARE LATE (after 9am) SHOULD COME VIA THE OFFICE, not directly to the classroom.

LOST PROPERTY

We have a lot of unlabelled uniform that ends up in lost property, which we cannot return. Lost property is checked weekly by the office, named items are returned to classrooms via the pigeonholes.

CAMPS, SPORTS and EXCURSIONS FUND (CSEF)

School camps provide children with inspiring experiences in the great outdoors. Excursions encourage a deeper understanding of how the world works while sports teach teamwork, discipline and leadership. All are a part of a healthy curriculum.

CSEF is provided by the Victorian Government to assist eligible families to cover the costs of school excursions, camps and sporting activities.

If you hold a valid means-tested concession card or support an out of home care student, you may be eligible for CSEF. A special consideration category also exists for asylum seeker and refugee families.

The allowance is paid directly to the school to use towards expenses relating to camps, excursions or sporting activities for the benefit of your child.

The annual CSEF amount per student is $400 for eligible school students.

If you applied for CSEF last year, you do not need to complete an application form this year unless there has been a change in your family circumstance, eg; new Prep enrolled.

Mental Health Workshop- When to Worry, How to Help

Many parents notice changes in their child but feel unsure how to respond. This presentation helps parents recognise early warning signs of mental health challenges, understand what may be happening beneath the surface, and learn practical, supportive ways to help. It also highlights the importance of parental self‑care and where to go to get local support if needed.
