Australia Education Union Industrial Action

As many of you would be aware, the AEU is currently in negotiations with the Victorian Government regarding pay and working conditions for Victorian public school teachers and education support staff. As an agreement has still not been reached, further industrial action is scheduled to take place this term.

A half-day Stop Work Action is planned for this coming Tuesday, the 19th May.  If this action is to proceed, students would not be required at school until 12:15pm. While this action is yet to be confirmed, classes and programs on this day may be significantly impacted.

Please keep an eye on SENTRAL for updates regarding this action. We will notify families as soon as arrangements have been confirmed.

A further action that may affect families this term is the AEU ban on teachers providing written comments in mid-year student reports. Students will still be assessed and receive achievement ratings; however, written comments will not be included. Further information regarding this will be communicated later in the term.

Again, thank you for your ongoing support and understanding regarding this action. We appreciate the inconvenience this may cause families; however, as mentioned last term, it is vital that we work together to close the gap in teacher salaries to help prevent the continued loss of teachers to NSW due to higher pay opportunities. Let’s continue to Keep Echuca East great!
