Last Friday we celebrated Jubilee Spirit Day commencing with a beautiful Mass followed by a day of sporting activities lead by the Kaboom Sports company. Our students seemed to truly have a ball with the fun, tabloid sports in a very positive atmosphere. Our Year 6 students were terrific helping to lead this and guide their younger peers. Thank you to Mrs Winduss, Mrs Ary and the Our House Spirit Team for organising this.

On Tuesday our Fire Carrier students had an excursion to the MCG Sports Museum and the Year 1/2 classes had their excursion to TwistED at Moorabin as part of their classroom studies. On Wednesday our senior students were supposed to be at John Paul College for the annual Lightning Premiership. It has been rescheduled to Monday 27th October.

Tomorrow, Friday 24 October, students are asked to bring Lucky Jars and wear casual clothes as part of our preparations for our Market Day. The week is very full of great experiences for our students.

Next Friday is far more classroom focused. It ends on Friday 31st October which is All Souls' Day and a school closure day as is Monday 3rd November as part of the teacher's employment agreement. As such students will finish this week on Thursday 30th October and then return to school on Wednesday 5th November. If families are using this as a chance to get away may you travel safely.

In school improvements we can obviously all see that the building project is moving forwards far more rapidly Other improvements of course have included improvements to the gardens around the hall which have been re-mulched, an irrigation system has been added to the vegetable garden and orchard out the back and on Thursday 29th October we will join the 21st century and have a sliding sensor door installed to replace the very old front door which has met its use-by date. This may mean we will have some disruption to the office on the day but we will make sure we have an alternative in place. All pretty exciting for sure.

Next week we begin placing children into class groupings for the 2026 school year. Please advise the school in writing addressed to rshaw@saseaford.catholic.edu.au if you have any requests regarding the placement of your child for 2026. We will consider these requests as one of the many aspects of building classes for the next year. These requests certainly are not guaranteed. REQUESTS will be taken up to Thursday 30th October.

School Attendance and Unexplained Absence

Please contact the school if your child is going to be absent by leaving a message on

9786 4736 and press 1. Please give details of your child’s name and class with a reason for their absence such as: unwell, appointment, holiday or family reasons. Alternatively an email can be sent to office@saseaford.catholic.edu.au with cc to the child’s teacher.

If you are running late, (after 9:00 am) please attend the office to sign your child into school.

If you are picking up your child early you will need to collect them and sign them out from the office.

As per our policy this will be our morning routine for absences:

Parents will be contacted as soon as practicable on the morning a student is absent via a text message.

If parent does not contact the school after receiving the text message, the school will contact the parent by phone. If the parent is unreachable the emergency contacts will be contacted by the school.

If there is still no response, and the school feels that the child is in danger, the police will be contacted.

Ongoing unexplained absences or lack of cooperation regarding student attendance will result in a formal conference being organized. Unresolved attendance issues will be referred to D.H.H.S.

This is a legal requirement.
