Message from the Principal

Mrs Bronwyn Underwood

Dear Parents and Carers,

Already we're at the start of Week 3—it's incredible how quickly the term is passing!

Term 4 is typically a very busy one, as we focus on transitioning students to the end of the current year and getting them ready for the new school year ahead. Please note that Semester Two Reports will be made available to families on Friday, December 12.

Focusing on Writing K-6

Last week, Amanda McNair, Leah Summerell and myself attended two days of professional learning on the teaching of writing K-6. The Primary English Teachers’ Association of Australia hosted a fantastic event entitled: "Teaching Writing: Purpose, Meaning, Pleasure."

This reflects our major strategic focus for 2026: Writing K-6. Our goal is to improve the outcomes for all students and to upskill our staff in the latest evidence-based practices. This will ensure our students have every possible opportunity to shine in this important cross-curricular skill. We look forward to our strategic work in this area!

A Warm Welcome to Mrs. Amanda Scott

This term, we warmly welcome Mrs. Amanda Scott to our staff. Amanda is replacing Miss Cronin, who has taken leave for the duration of Term 4.

Amanda has a wealth of experience and is no stranger to St Michael's through her work with Early Career Teachers. She will be taking over the Religious EducationCoordinator/Assistant Principal role and providing release time to classroom teachers for planning each week (RFF). We look forward to working with Amanda during the term! Welcome aboard!

P&F Fundraiser Success

Thank you to all families who supported the recent Mango Fundraiser organised by our P&F Association. This is always a great way to support the school. A special thanks to Kate Holden for coordinating!

Important Dates and Congratulations

Please make a note that our Annual Award Ceremony will be held at Manilla Central High School on Monday evening, December 15, commencing at 6:00 p.m.

Finally, a huge congratulations to staff member Ashlen Vaisey (nee Rae), who was married on Saturday! We wish Ashlen and her husband Nathan all the best for a fabulous future.

Enjoy a wonderful week ahead,

Bronwyn
