One of our Foundation students, Marley, had an incredible opportunity to play a cricket game at the iconic MCG! Representing the Shepparton Youth Club/United Cricket Club in the Woolworths Master Blasters program, Marley took to the field between matches on Day 3 of the Women’s Ashes. What an unforgettable experience, well done, Marley!

St Mel's Netball Club Update: Season 2025
Dear Parents and Players of St Mel’s Netball Club
This email is to provide a further update in relation to the future of St Mel’s Netball Club.
On Tuesday 17th Dec 2024 committee members presented to attendees’ issues impacting the Netball club and plausible option(s) moving forward.
Issues presented:
As stated at the meeting the challenges that St Mel’s Netball Club faces is that the vast majority of committee and coaches won’t be with the club in 2025, their children are moving to high school netball or just not participating in the sport anymore.
Further to this the committee and coaches held multiple roles.
Challenges:
Recruitment of Volunteers (Coaches and Committee) is a major challenge, but we are also facing insurance and governance issues.
At this time St Mel’s Netball is not an incorporated entity, and there is a need for this to occur to continue as a club.
St Mel's PS is not able to assume coordination, management and oversight of the St Mel's Netball Club due to governance, legal and operational constraints.
This means that St Mel’s netball must transition into a standalone club, this will mean
*Becoming an incorporated entity which includes:
*Drafting a constitution
*Establishing a formal committee
*Hold its own insurance
*Train off site at the SNA courts as St Mel’s isn’t insured for us to use the site
To persist St Mel’s will need to form a committee of at least 6 to 8 people and have coaches for each grade
In light of these challenges the Shepparton Saints Netball Club have reached out, they are starting Junior teams from Under 9s through to Under 19s.
The Saints were established 2 years ago with a focus of giving players a go, there are no trials for Under 13s, Primary and below - just grading to position children at the right level.
Saints was set up as a rebranding of the Notre Dame College Club and extending to include St Mel's PS players under the 'Saints' retains some of our history / tradition.
At the meeting a proposal was presented to merge St Mel’s with Shepparton Saints Netball Club this will mean:
· St Mel’s will not participate in 2025 SNA Netball season - our players will play under the 'Saints Netball Club'
· Old uniforms donated to the school for inter school games
· Some equipment and funds to be transferred to the Saints
· Left over funds to be gifted to the St Mel’s Soccer Club
At the meeting there was collective agreement that St Mel’s should pursue this option and action the joining of the Saints Netball Club.
It is recommended that all players/families follow the Shepparton Saints Netball Club Incorporated Facebook site for information and updates on registering and participating with Saints in 2025.
