Appreciations and Acknowledgements

A very big appreciation to the FWPS staff team - Today we held an appreciation morning tea to acknowledge the outstanding efforts of our staff. It has been a busy and demanding term and it seems our whole community has been battling colds, coughs, flu and Covid throughout.  We are looking forward to some time to recharge and hope that many families will also have some time together, doing things that you love to do.

Jess Russell-Davies has been a member of the staff team since 2016 and will officially step down from her teaching role tomorrow.  An explanation was provided in the newsletter a few weeks ago: https://newsletters.naavi.com/i/Mxj3l7N/2024-term-2-week-8/page/1#:~:text=Jess%20Russell%2DDavies%20joined%20us%20in%202016%20and%20initially%20worked%20as%20a%20classroom%20teacher%20prior%20to%20becoming%20a

Staff and students have shown their appreciation for Jess’ thoughtful and caring nature with a beautiful keepsake made by our students, magnificently curated by Susie and presented at our morning tea today.

We expect we will still see Jess at FWPS again in the future as a CRT.

Congratulations to our Tee Ball and AFL teams for their success in winning their grand finals matches last Friday.  We appreciated the student efforts and the positive manner in which they conducted themselves, while being heartily supported by parents and carers.   An appreciation to the teams’ coaches, Tee ball coach Mikala (deputised by Marshal on the day due to Mikala being on sick leave) and AFL coach, Marco.  Their coaching roles are safe for now!

News

Student Dress Code Reminder - Last week I made mention that we currently have a significant number of students wearing non uniform tops, instead of school bomber jackets, or pullovers.  We would appreciate all our students complying with our uniform expectations.  We felt it helpful to provide notice, prior to putting this into action next term.

Grade 3 First Nations Incursion Video - Thanks to Michael for editing this video https://vimeo.com/96838611 following this mid term incursion.

Coming Up…

Assembly - Assembly will be held early tomorrow at 1.50pm.  2TF are looking forward to presenting their assembly item.  Based on the weather forecast, we are anticipating running our assembly outdoors.  This will enable students in grades 1 - 6 to take their bags with them and then be dismissed directly at the conclusion of our assembly.  Just prior to dismissal, the prep grades will return to their classrooms and will be dismissed from there.  Due to these last day changes, assembly will start 10 minutes after recess, enabling a whole school litter pick up, prior to a 1.50pm assembly start.

End of Term - School will be dismissed tomorrow at 2.20 pm (the customary one hour earlier finish at the conclusion of Terms 1, 2 and 3).

Coming Up...Next Term

NAPLAN - We have just been informed that NAPLAN assessment packs for grade 3 and 5 classes will be delivered to school during the first week of next term.  We will then promptly send them home with the students.

Berry Street Parent Information Session - Thanks to the generosity of our Parents Association, we have just secured an online parent information session next term.  Please see the flyer in today’s newsletter for the details.

Trivia Night - It is exciting to see how popular the upcoming Parents Association Trivia Night has proven to be with tickets sold at the speed of a Taylor Swift concert. We appreciate the support for our marvellous PA crew.

Cheers,

Brendan
