Principal Update
Issue No 2
Term 1 - Week 6
Dear families,
It’s hard to believe we have passed the mid-way point of the term. I the next few weeks we look forward to a host of learning and social experiences; including the year six camp, our school swimming carnival, NAPLAN and much more. To ensure our students are well rested, I’ve organised a public holiday on Monday 9th March.
Havelock St. Pick-up Zone: IMPORTANT
I ask all parents and carers to observe the road rules and parking signs in Havelock St. Last night it was havoc out there because of a few illegally parked vehicles – causing congestion and danger to our students. No one should be waiting or parked in the
no-standing zones. Council has been contacted to patrol these areas.

2027 Enrolment Information
Enrolments open for 2027 Fondation places at the beginning of term 2. I encourage families with siblings to compete the online enrolment application found on our school website St Kilian's Primary School - Enrolment Application
Important Update on the White House Demolition Project
In the coming weeks, Searle Brothers will begin clearing and stripping the interior of the building in preparation for demolition. Current arrangements propose that the building will be demolished in the April school holidays with the first floor being demolished by hand. A letter of confirmation will be emailed to families this afternoon.
Parents & Friends Association Update
Thank you to those who were able to attend last night's P&F meeting. This year we have decided to formalise the committee with official organising roles. Thank you to the following parents who have accepted committee roles;
Committee Members:
Presidents: Alisha Bahen & Abbey Meggs
Secretary: Bec Reid
Communications Officers: Sharelle Patten, Bec Richie & Kim Fisher
The P&F have many fundraising and social events planned for this year and are always looking for support and for families to become involved.
NAPLAN
From Wednesday 11th March, students in Years 3 and 5 will participate in NAPLAN (National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy). These assessments provide a snapshot of student achievement in Reading, Writing, Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation, and Numeracy.
NAPLAN is just one part of our broader assessment program at school. It supports teachers to better understand student progress over time and helps inform future teaching and learning. The assessments are designed to reflect the literacy and numeracy skills students develop through everyday classroom learning.
We encourage students to approach NAPLAN with a calm and confident mindset, understanding that it is an opportunity to demonstrate what they know. There is no need for additional preparation beyond regular class learning, a good night’s sleep and a positive attitude.
If you have any questions about NAPLAN, please feel free to contact your child’s classroom teacher.
Year 6 Camp
Our Year 6 students head to our nation's capital next week ... We trust this will be learning experience for all participating students who will represent St Kilian’s.
Division Swimming
Congratulations to those students who competed last week in the Bendigo Divisional Swimming Carnival. A special shout out to Dara Anthony for her achievements in placing 1st place in Backstroke and 3rd in freestyle.
Student Birthdays
Students celebrating a birthday may way CASUAL CLOTHES to school in recognition of their special day. If the birthday falls on a weekend or holiday, simply choose a future date to wear casual clothing.
Volunteers in Catholic Schools
At St Kilian’s Primary School, Bendigo we value the support of volunteers. Over your child/ren’s journey through Primary School there are many opportunities to volunteer and support your child and the school.
A letter has been emailed to all families today outlining the application process and a link to begin.
