Assistant Principal Report - December 2024

Practical completion of stage 3 of our Building program was on 12 October 2023. Since then, the school community has worked hard to establish the gardens and put finishing touches to our school.

Unfortunately, our Late Works Package has still not been approved. This would have seen additional projects undertaken around the school including additional joinery, line marking, internal furnishings and landscaping.

As year we have not signed off on our defects due to some ongoing issues that need to be addressed.

These issues include:

  • Roof leaks
  • External doors not opening and closing easily.
  • The heating and cooling system the solar panels that don’t seem to be saving us alto in our electricity bills.
  • Incorrect signage in some areas.

Throughout 2024 our remaining building grant money has been used for several projects including:

  • Shade sail repairs due to wear and tear and storm damage.
  • Gardening maintenance
  • Promotional displays including our new banners proudly displayed in our hall.
  • Decals for doors and display areas
  • Window coverings and frosting
  • Line marking on the oval paths and concreted areas
  • Fencing repairs
  • Installation of a new electronic gate due to it becoming obsolete after 3G was phased out.
  • Plumbing repairs and maintenance
  • Installation of new fireproof doors in the hall due to incorrect installation originally.
  • General ongoing maintenance and repairs in classrooms, buildings and grounds.
  • Vandalism and damage repairs

Plumbing has been a huge issue this year with leaks, blockages and pump failures. Hopefully this has now been rectified and 2025 will see less issues arising.

Maintaining our gardens has also been an issue since 2023 and our current gardeners were having difficulty managing the growth. In term 3 we held a very successful working bee that got a great start on our weeds and pruning. In term 4 we employed a 2nd gardener on a casual basis to help with the general upkeep of the school grounds. Between both companies they are doing a fantastic job, and we are already seeing huge improvements in our garden beds.

They have plans moving forward to ensure our school grounds thrive and become a thing of beauty.

General maintenance occurs on a regular basis and issues are addressed as quickly as possible to maintain standards in our school.

We were told that our 2nd portable would be removed in 2024. Unfortunately, despite us keeping it empty this year it was not removed. Our latest correspondence tells us they will be removed in April of 2025. We will then look at how to best reinstate the area where it once stood.

As always if you have any concerns regarding our school grounds, please contact me by phone or email as soon as possible so that these things can be addressed.
