From The Head of Boarding 

This Boarding term has been packed with activities and events, including sports finals, the MEBS annual Trivia Night, and exams. A highlight of Term 3 for MEBS in any year is our Farewell Mass and Dinner for the Year 12 Senior Class of 2026. This year was no exception. Mass was celebrated by Bishop Mark Edwards, Father Grace, and Father Neil. Guests included the Executive Director of Education, Dr. Sandra Harvey, and Presentation Sister Barbara Webber, Principals Christie Scutti (KCC) and Val Thomas (MDCC), and the Colleges' Executive Staff. 

An event like this requires a team effort. I would like to thank Chris Fisicaro, Jackie Tassell, the Leaders of Faith and Mission, Rebecca Gill (MDCC) and Ondre Nejman (KCC), the Principals Val; Thomas and Christie Scutti, our Boarding parents, the Boarders and especially our Year 12 Boarders for everything done towards making the night a success.

A special thank you to Mr. John Gowland, who always supports MEBS with his photography, but this year also helped us with the printing of the seating plan designed by Chris. See below.

 A special acknowledgement to Celeste Crain,  the designer of our Nagle and Rice House Crests.

Celeste's contribution to MEBS has been excellent since joining us in Year 7, and we thank her very much for fantastic designs - see below: A lasting legacy.

We sadly farewelled a relatively new staff member, Mr. Tim Hall. Tim successfully applied for the role of Maintenance Supervisor at Mater Dei Catholic College, which is a fantastic opportunity for him. We thank him very much for his work and wish him all the best for the future.

I want to thank and commend Josh Willetts, who acted as sound engineer/ av person at the recent Year 12 Farewell Mass and Dinner. Josh also performed, playing acoustic guitar at the Dinner. A fantastic effort.

As our Year 12 Seniors of 2026 prepare for their HSC Exams and leaving Boarding, a new group of young people are just beginning their Senior 2027 year.

As Year 12s are all Senior students become leaders at MEBS, but 6 have been successfully nominated and selected for the following roles:

We congratulate these young leaders who will attend the Australian Boarding Schools' Association Leaders' Conference in October 2026

Thank you to our Boarders and their parents for supporting the upcoming Immaculata Event being held at Kildare and Mount Erin in the last week of the October holidays.

We are especially thinking of the Year12 Boarders who will be returning on Monday afternoon at 5 pm in readiness to begin their final HSC exams on Tuesday morning.

We wish them all the best.

As we head towards week 10, the final week of Term 4, I want to wish everyone on behalf of Mount Erin, a happy and safe school holiday period. Please keep the Year12 students at our Colleges in your thoughts and prayers.
