Term 3 2026

Welcome Prep Families to Term 3!

It has been wonderful to see our Prep students settle back into their learning routines so quickly. We have had a fantastic start to the term and are looking forward to a busy few months filled with exciting learning, new challenges and lots of opportunities to grow.

Literacy

This term in Literacy, we will continue building on the sounds we already know as we learn to read, spell and write bigger words with growing confidence. Students will continue exploring a range of text types in writing and are already making fantastic progress as they develop their ideas, sentence writing and confidence as young authors. We are so proud of how much they have grown already and can't wait to see this continue throughout the term.

Mathematics

In Mathematics, we will continue working through Book 2 of our EMP program. Students will strengthen their understanding of number by adding, subtracting and manipulating larger numbers using a range of strategies. We will also continue developing our mathematical thinking through hands-on activities, games and problem-solving tasks.

Systematic Knowledge

This term, our Systematic Knowledge learning will focus on two exciting units: Healthy Food and Personal Health and Safety. Students will learn about the foods that help keep our bodies healthy, the importance of making healthy choices, and how to prepare food safely. They will also explore ways to keep themselves safe and healthy by learning about personal safety, trusted adults, hygiene and making safe choices in different situations.

PICKUP ROUTINES

Pick Up and Drop Off

Students are collected from our Prep lineup area at the end of each school day. Classroom teachers, or specialist teachers if students finish the day in a specialist class, will bring students to the lineup area. Please wait to collect your child from this point rather than from the hallways or classroom doors.

After collection, you are more than welcome to walk back through the halls with your child so they can proudly share their learning and the wonderful work displayed throughout the school.

To help build our Prep students' confidence and independence, we kindly ask families to say goodbye at the Prep lineup area each morning rather than accompanying students into the hallways or classrooms. Establishing this routine helps students develop independence and allows everyone to start the day calmly and confidently.

If you are arriving close to the final bell, please still make your way around to the Prep lineup area rather than through the hallways to help keep our corridors safe during dismissal.

We will always wait with students until they are collected. If you are running late, please contact the office so we can let your child know and reassure them that you are on your way.
