Principal's Report

I hope that our Mums had a very special Mother's Day on Sunday. It was delightful to see our families celebrating last week at our picnic event. Whilst the weather wasn't terrific, our students still enjoyed seeing their Mums, grandparents and special friends come along to enjoy time together at our school. It was also joyful to hear students talk about their gifts they had bought at our Mother's Day Stall. The stall does not make a profit for our school, we run this each year to ensure our students can put thought into appreciating their Mums by selecting a gift for them. Thank you to the parent helpers who volunteered to help out at the stall last week. There are pictures of our picnic on the Mother's Day page of this newsletter edition.

School Wide Positive Behaviour Support

We are proud to announce that Clyde PS recently achieved a Gold level of acknowledgement for our School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) implementation from the Department of Education.

Our School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support teaches behaviour expectations and rewards students for following these expectations. It provides a safe and predictable environment and establishes a positive classroom climate that improves learning outcomes.

Our SWPBS ensures success – socially, emotionally and academically. This is achieved by its preventive and proactive approach in encouraging positive behaviour by defining specific behaviours we want to see, aligned to our core values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience.

The Gold level of acknowledgement recognises that our school has sustained SWPBS initiatives over two or more years with measurable improvements in student behaviour and engagement. We are very proud of this achievement.

Camp Program

Our Year 5 & 6 students are getting ready to head off to their 2 night camp from Wednesday 27th-Friday 29th May. This year the students are off to Bayview Adventure Camp, which is an outdoor adventure camp located in the beautiful bush setting of Grantville, near Phillip Island.

Camps involve an enormous amount of planning and preparation. Thanks to the staff for the many hours of work that has gone into this camp to allow this to happen. We are looking forward to a great 3 days and are confident that all students and staff will have a wonderful time.  Our Year 3 & 4 students will also attend camp later in the year.

District Cross Country

On Tuesday 12th May, we had 44 students from our school participate at District Cross Country at Casey Fields. We were very blessed with the amazing weather and some fantastic running from our students. All our students ran their best and enjoyed the

experience. We finished the day 3rd in the District, which is such a great achievement.

On Thursday 7th May, we had Ali from NRL Melbourne Storm come and talk to our Years 2-6 students about being 'Simply Your Best', as an individual and also as a team in sports and in the classroom and how they can go about doing this. It was great to play some quick small team games at the end too.

Hello! My name is Izzy and I am doing work placement with Mrs Rasmussen in Auslan on Wednesdays. I’m a year 11 student who is Deaf and can sign and speak at the same time. Make sure you speak clearly and loudly around me so I can hear you. Outside of school I love to play with my cat named Yuki, and I love going out with family and friends in the city. I’m really excited to meet you both inside and outside of the classroom and if you see me around, your more than welcome to say hello! I look forward to seeing you all at Clyde PS
