Message from the Principal

Dear parents, carers and friends of EEPS,

With the strong wind on Friday night, I think it proved a good decision to move postpone movie night, more details later regarding the replacement date. However, it certainly was an interesting week with the strike day, Harmony Day dress up day, photo day and Grandparents’ Day all rolling one after the other.

Student Fundraising Initiative

Congratulations to Alaina P, in Year 4 who completed the 5km Run for Kids for Good Friday Appeal over the weekend. She managed to raise $660 for the Royal Children’s Hospital - well done Alaina.

Thank you to the EEPS school community who also raised a similar amount for State Schools Relief, from the generous donations from our JSC organised Harmony Day fundraiser.

Grandparents’ Day

It was wonderful to see so many Grandparents and special friends last Friday for the annual Preps Grandparents’ Day. There were so many happy, smiling faces. A special ‘shout-out’ to all the EEPS grandparents, throughout the school, for the wonderful support that they do provide to their grandchildren. We have a large number of grandparents who help out in so many ways.

Enrolments

Prep enrolments for 2027 open on the first day of next term, Monday 20th April.  If you have a sibling attending next year, then please make sure to complete the enrolment form as soon as possible. We will have information packs available for Kinders and preschools starting next term. Time does go quickly, and it is hard to believe that we are thinking about 2027 already.

Stand-Up Project - Family Afternoon

Please see a separate invitation in the Newsletter regarding a special family afternoon. This information session, on the first Thursday afternoon back next term, 23rd April is for parents about the Stand-Up project and is facilitated by our Year 6 student leaders.

New Family Recipe Book

The very keen and hardworking EEPS JSC are wanting to launch a Family Recipe Book. This was an idea that they came up with earlier in the term, but I felt there wasn’t enough time to get things ready for Harmony Day.  However, they are pushing ahead with the plan, which is fantastic. Please also see the attached flyer around that!

Student Uniform Update

Thank you to the families who are supporting the Eltham East Primary School student dress code policy. This term there has been a great increase in compliance with many aspects. Unfortunately, many students are not yet wearing compliant shorts. Even as the weather becomes cooler, shorts are a popular uniform item. We are seeking your help with our concerted effort next term to maintain consistent uniform expectations.

Supportive Feedback from Parents

The school recently received some delightful feedback from two parents regarding an incidence of student support they witnessed at drop off one morning. It was lovely to read and the staff involved were very pleased to have their kind and diligent work noticed - thank you.

Term 2 schedule for families

Please see attached a Term 2 schedule for families with some of the key dates for next term.

Change of Date - Movie Night

We have been able to secure Friday 16th October as a replacement date for our 2026 movie night. This will mean that most likely we will screen a different movie, one that is more recent to October. Currently purchased tickets, will be transferrable to the night. We will provide further information as we move through the year. Thank you to everyone for your understanding and support.

As we head towards the end of the term 1, I wanted to thank everyone, students, staff and parents for the strong support that we have had in term 1. Don’t forget that this Thursday is the last day of the term and school finishes at 2.30pm.

Happy Easter and have an enjoyable holiday break.

Kind regards

Warren Lloyd

Principal
