Prep: Prep students continue to explore and learn solfege as a way of recognising and understanding pitch. They have practiced singing and identifying notes in sequence and have begun creating their own simple melodies to express musical ideas.
Grade 1 & 2: Students in Grades 1 and 2 have been developing their drumming skills on the djembe. They have learned the difference between bass and treble sounds, practiced using both left and right hand techniques, and explored how to combine these into clear and steady rhythmic patterns.
Grade 3 & 4: Grades 3 and 4 students have been learning to play the ukulele. They have explored the fretboard in detail and practiced basic note progressions, building their understanding of how notes and chords work together to create melodies and songs.
Grade 5 & 6: Students in Grades 5 and 6 have been developing their guitar skills by exploring the fretboard and learning to play complete single-string songs. Through this, they have built accuracy and fluency while gaining confidence in performing full pieces of music.

Visual Art
As term 3 is starting to wind up students in grades 3, 4, 5 and 6 have completed some excellent projects in visual arts.
Grade 3 have completed Koi fish kites and are just waiting for that windy day to test them out.
Grade 4 have completed some Neurographic designs and studied Vincent Van Gogh’s Starry Night.
Grade 5 made some amazing models using clay, which they glazed before taking them home.
Grade 6 have created some beautiful clay cottages modelled on those found in the Cotswolds in England.
All students have been very generous with their art work in allowing me to store away many pieces for a very much anticipated art show in 2026.
