Principal's Message

TERM 1 SEMESTER 1

 Bonjour à tous.

I hope that everyone enjoyed their extra long weekend.

There has been cases of head lice reported in the Junior areas again.  This is a timely reminder that you must check your child's hair regularly and treat as/if necessary.  If you do come across any evidence of head lice, ensure that all eggs have been removed, otherwise reinfestation will continue to occur. When treating please ensure that you treat all bedding, hats, pillows, hair ties etc as well with a hot wash.

Thank you to all the families who are trying to keep on top of these annoying pesty outbreaks.  If everyone remains vigilant and continues to regularly check and treat when necessary, and ensures all eggs are removed, we should be able to break the cycle and reduce the spread.

Please visit www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au and search for head lice (nits)" for advice on finding, treating and preventing head lice.

The grade 5/'s headed off to Licola Camp for 2 nights of fun and activities.  Remember that the 5/6's have a rest day on Monday.  Some of the activities enjoyed were: giant swing, flying fox, high ropes, obstacle course, mini hike, archery and low ropes just to name a few.  What a great experience for them.

Regional Swimming was held in Sale on Thursday with Felicity and Phoebe representing the school.  Both girls competed and placed well.  Congratulations to you both. See the 'Around The School' page for more details.

Our grade 3 and some grade 4 students participated in a reconcilation retreat at Mary MacKillop College today in readiness for the children who will be  making the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Thursday 19th.  What an exciting time for them.

E-SCOOTER AND E-BIKE SAFETY

Victoria Police and the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) are raising awareness of new regulations regarding usage of electric powered-scooters (e-scooters) in Victoria and enforcement.  Below is information regarding new regulations for the use of e-scooters and e-bikes that are very relevant and important to everyone who owns one or both of these items.

In Victoria, it is illegal for individuals under the age of 16 years to ride e-scooters or electricbikes (e-bikes).

New Regulations that came into effect in October last year govern e-scooter use on Victorian roads.

These rules include substantial penalties for:

- Underage riding

- Speeding

- Riding without a helmet

- Riding on footpaths

- Carrying passengers

Similar existing regulations also apply to usage of e-bikes.

Victoria Police have advised that there will be strict enforcement of the e-scooter and e-bike regulations.

Underage riders and riders who breach the regulations will face substantial fines.
