Victorian Schools Music Festival

Phillip Reichman, Head of Music

What a wonderful celebration it has been! Once again, our Senior and Intermediate concert bands took the stage at the highly anticipated Victorian Schools Music Festival, and their performances were nothing short of outstanding. Throughout the year, their unwavering commitment has shone through in their rehearsals, and it all culminated in a brilliant display of talent, dedication and sound.

With the collective strength of 80 students across both ensembles, their unity, musicality and energy were truly remarkable. The feedback received highlighted not only their ability to harmonize and blend as a group, but also the exceptional individual contributions that produced a melodic and breathtaking musical experience.

A heartfelt thank you to our directors, Mr Sheridan and Mr Bonfa, whose guidance and expertise have been crucial in shaping our students' success. We also extend our gratitude to the parents who have consistently supported their children, ensuring their presence at morning and after-school rehearsals.

As we bring the curtain down on this year's Victorian Schools Music Festival, let's also give a resounding applause to the other participating ensembles:

  1. Junior Strings Orchestra: Recognition for participation

Meanwhile, in Ballarat this week ...

The junior string ensemble, under the direction of May Gavin won first place in their category at the South Street Society music competition. The judges had this to say:

The pieces suited the standard of the players, and both received solid interpretation. It sounded like you were all enjoying playing together, which is a credit to you and your conductor – thank you.
