Reptile Encounters!

On Tuesday 11th June, the team from Reptile Encounters came to visit the Foundation students at NLPS. Bryce, the amazing presenter, brought along six of his cold-blooded friends; Shrek the frog, Cheryl the stick insect, Pepper the lizard, Squirtle the turtle, Chicken the snake and Tiny the python.

The students learned all about the different reptiles, including how they live, what they eat and the different adaptations they have to keep them safe in the wild. All of the students had a go at touching or holding the different animals. This was a great way for everyone to overcome some of their fears!

The Reptile Encounters Incursion was a fantastic experience and a great way to conclude our BQT unit about how living things thrive and survive.

Imax & Melbourne Museum Excursion

On Wednesday the Year 3 students visited IMAX & Melbourne Museum as part of our inquiry into living things and their dependence on each other and the environment to survive.

Our journey began at IMAX to see ‘BUGS: MIGHTY MICRO MONSTERS 3D’. We were  taken on a tour of the bustling world beneath the ground from the Kenyan savannah to the tropical rainforests of North East Australia, where the superpowers of some mighty micro-monsters were revealed.

After a quick trip to the Museum playground for a snack and a play we made our way to the ‘Bugs Alive, Dynamic Earth and the Victoria the T-Rex exhibition’. Students were highly engaged in the interactive displays and immersive experiences to spark curiosity. Our students made many connections between what they saw and our Inquiry this term which was wonderful to see.

We are grateful for the support from ES staff Antonella & our Year 3 parents Jessica, Kate, Melanie, Nadia, Rebecca and Wayne, for joining us on our visit to the Museum, as these excursions cannot happen without you. Thank you!

Dance Program

It’s Dance Week. This week we have been busting a move, getting our groove on, and hitting the dance floor. The NLPS Dance program is in full swing, and the kids are having a great time. Dance is a fun way to develop coordination and physical fitness, promote social interaction and team building, and improve emotional wellbeing. Many of our students will continue rehearsing their dance in Term 3 and showcase their skills at the NLPS Production. We hope to see all of the kids busting out their groovy moves at the Student Disco next week.
