Mindful Wednesday Mornings!

NLPS is thrilled to offer Mindful Wednesday Mornings to our community.

To continue to prioritise student wellbeing and enhance academic performance, we are introducing a new initiative where we will host mindful meditation sessions on Wednesday mornings. Students now have the opportunity to start their day with 15 minutes of guided meditation. This exciting new initiative links nicely to The Resilience Project, where our children are explicitly taught about GEM (Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness), as we continue to enhance our children’s emotional literacy.

Research has shown that regular meditation can improve concentration, enhance emotional regulation, and even boost academic performance. By offering these sessions, we are investing in the holistic wellbeing of our community.

Families are also welcome to join in with the sessions

When:      Each Wednesday Morning, starting on 29th May

Where:    The Drama Room (downstairs in the new double portable building!)

Time:        8:45am

Nude Food Wednesdays

Following the success of our Nude Food Day last year, the JSC have decided to hold weekly Nude Food Wednesdays. We feel that we can make a positive difference by becoming more aware of climate change and pollution, whilst taking ‘action’ and ensuring we have a cleaner and healthier school environment.

Nude Food means: food without excess packaging on it. An option may be to use beeswax wraps or containers instead of glad wrap or plastic wrappers of any kind.

By having a weekly Nude Food Day, we would be reducing the rubbish and plastic that needs to go into bins and sent to landfill. This would also help the natural environment around the school, such as Newport Lakes Reserve.

Please note that students will not get in trouble if they bring plastic wrappers to school. Students from each class who have the most Nude Food Wednesdays, will win an entry into the Gotcha Box, where they will have the chance to be invited to an end of term Special Morning Tea.

If you would like more information about Nude Food, please see this pamphlet:
