Below, you will find an outline of our exam processes and rules. Please read through these and let us know if you have any questions.

  • Students are required to be in full school uniform for each exam.
  • Students are only required at school for their exam sessions and for the duration between exams. For instance, if you have one exam at 11:30am, you need to be at school at 11:20am and you are permitted to leave when your exam ends at 1:10pm.
  • Students are required to remain in their exam rooms for the duration of their exams. There are no early departures.
  • Students are not permitted to leave school grounds in between exams. You will have study spaces (at the library and in a classroom set aside for study) where you can revise for your exams.
  • Students must only bring permissible items/material into each exam. Stationery items permitted in all exams include: pens, pencils, erasers, sharpeners, highlighters and rulers. Correction ink or tape (white-out) is not permitted in any exam. Subject-specific exam items include:

    - English: dictionaries (no thesaurus)

    - EAL: bilingual dictionaries (no thesaurus)

    - General Maths 1 & 2: bound reference, CAS calculator, scientific calculator

    - Maths Methods 2: bound reference, protractor, set square, curve sketching aids, CAS calculator, scientific calculator

    - Physics: scientific calculator, one folded A3 sheet OR two A4 sheets of notes that are bound using tape

    - Chemistry: scientific calculator

  • Pencil cases must be see-through (clear plastic) without lettering or labels.
  • Students are permitted to bring in still water (not sparkling) in see-through plastic bottles of no more that 1.5 litres.
  • Smart watches and digital watches are not permitted in the exams. Analogue watches must be removed and placed on the desk prior to the start of each exam. Digital clocks are up in each exam room for your convenience.
  • Year 10 students enrolled in a VCE enrichment subject who have a timetable clash will need to speak with their Sub School Leader, Ms Sophie Williamson, to organise a different time slot in the week to complete their Year 10 subject exam.

For most students, the written exam for English and EAL on Tuesday 27th October marks the start of the exam period. Please note that all students must be in full school uniform for every exam. The uniform must not be defaced, graffitied or embellished in any way.

Unit 3 & 4 VM Portfolio Interviews

All Vocational Major students in Year 12 and in Year 11 are enrolled in Unit 3 & 4 of Work Related Skills. As their summative assessment, students are required to prepare a portfolio of their work, as they would for a job interview, and present before a panel that includes external assessors, at the conference rooms in Realm Ringwood.

Portfolio interviews are not only an assessment of our students' body of work, organisational skills, preparation and presentation skills, but an opportunity for them to practice interviewing in a business setting before a panel, and to get valuable feedback from industry professionals.

Year 12 VM students will not have classes running at school on Monday and Tuesday, as most have their interviews scheduled on those two days. Well done to those who have successfully completed their interviews, and good luck to everyone booked in to present this week!

Unit 1 & 2 VCE exams

Year 11s (and Year 10 students undertaking an enrichment VCE subjects) will have their Unit 1 & 2 exams in Week 7, from 16th to 19th November, at the same time as Year 10 exams. Students will receive timetables for all exams shortly.

There are a few students who have timetable clashes. Where there is a clash between a Year 10 and VCE subject, the Year 10 exam will be rescheduled for a different time slot when the student does not have another exam. Timetable adjustments for individual students will be organised in coordination with the sub school leader.

All VCE and Year 10 exams will be conducted under VCAA examination conditions, to prepare students for external exams. This is relevant not only for Year 11 VCE students, but also to students in VM who will have to undertake the GAT (General Achievement Test).

In preparation for the exams, please ensure that you have a see-through drink bottle (labels removed) and see-through pencil case for all written exams. It would be helpful to prepare an exam kit with pencils, pens, erasers and sharpeners, as well as the specific material required for each subject. Please remember that correction ink/tape (white-out) is not permitted in any exam.
