On Wednesday 12 August, Prep students will be participating in an Outdoor Education Day at Cornelian Bay. Class teachers, learning assistants and Emily Ardas, our Outdoor Education teacher, will accompany the students on the excursion. We will be departing school at 9.45am and returning by 1.00pm.
The aim of the day is to explore the local bush lands while developing relationships with peers. Students are required to wear their Physical Education uniform and sturdy shoes to walk in. They are also to bring a backpack with food for first break, rain jacket, water bottle, a warm jumper, beanie, sun hat. No lunch orders on this day. Please update student Paperly profiles before the excursion.
Year 2 OE Excursion - Waterworks Reserve - Day of Poo - Friday 14 August
On Friday 14 August, Year 2 will be heading to Waterworks Reserve by bus with their class teachers and Outdoor Education Teacher, Emily Ardas. Students will be exploring animal adaptations, primarily through the study of animal scat. We will be departing at 9.15am returning back to school by 2.00pm.
Students should wear sports uniforms on this day, but will need to bring a warm jumper (wool, polar fleece or puffer jacket), beanie, sun hat, gloves and a waterproof raincoat as it could be very cold. As we will be away from school for most of the day, students will need to bring a large packed lunch (no lunch orders), snacks and drink from home. No lunch orders on this day. Please update student Paperly profiles before the excursion.
BOOK WEEK 2026 - “Symphony of Stories” - Monday 24 August - Friday 28 August
Book Week is fast approaching, so keep an eye out for the full program in next week’s What’s On. A much-loved feature of previous Book Weeks has been guest readers sharing stories during break times.
We would love to offer this again this year and invite families and friends to read a book in the Primary School Library during one of the following sessions:
11.00–11.30am and 1.50–2.10pm, Tuesday to Friday.
You are welcome to bring a favourite book from home or read one selected by us. If you would like to be one of our Book Week guest readers, we would love to hear from you! Please email Sharon Ryan to register your interest.
Absentees
If your child will be absent from school for the day please advise the Primary School Office (phone: 6210 2228, or email: primaryschooloffice@friends.tas.edu.au) and the classroom teacher before 8.45am. We appreciate your support in this process.
