Principal's Message
From the Desk of Kathy Nott - Term 3, Week 3
Good morning, Parents/Carers,
Public Education Week and Open Day
This week is Public Education Week. We will be holding an Open Day this Friday, 7th August at Werris Creek Public School and focusing on this year's theme "Inspiring Excellence". Please look to the Important Information & Events tab in the Newsletter to see our program for the day. We will also conclude the day with a Public Education Week assembly where we will award students with Public Education Week Awards, be entertained by all students with an item from each class and also present our Athletics Champions with their medallions and shields. All are welcome to attend, and we look forward to opening our school and celebrating with our families and community all things Public Education.
Behaviour Focus
This week we are focusing on being Respectful:
We are learning to:
Respect other's belongings
We know we are successful when:
Don't touch it if it's not yours
If you notice something let someone know
Put school equipment away
Be honest and helpful
Turn Up Awards
Each day your child attends their name will be entered into the draw to receive a paddle pop voucher. A voucher will be issued each week to each class. If your child attends 5 times in that week they have 5 entries. If they attend two days in that week they have 2 entries. Congratulations to our winners for Term 3, Week 2:
K/1B - Nasha
2/3O - Matilda
4/5/6T - Telmie
Home Reading
To celebrate our "Reading Stars" we have introduced a Reading Stars board in the school office. All students who achieve 25 nights or more will be displayed on our Reading Stars board. We look forward to adding as many stars as possible and showing everyone who enters the school office how great our students are at reading. Home reading is encouraged at Werris Creek Public School. Just 10 minutes per night can make a difference. To encourage our students to read at home, we offer some great incentives. See the image below with our incentive program. If you would like some tips on encouraging your child to read, please see their classroom teacher.

Blackville Spelling Bee
Good Luck to Alex, Emily, Hope, Jed, Joe, Luke, Maryellen, Matilda, Preachie, Raegan, Rose & Telmie who are participating in the Blackville Spelling Bee today at Blackville Public School. We look forward to hearing the results of the competition.
Attendance Matters
Congratulations to the 38 students who are part of our 100% Club. These students have attended school 100% of the time in Term 3.

We have 43 Students in total attending 90% or above. Keep up the good work as attendance matters.

If your child is to be absent from school for any reason, please ensure you contact the school office to advise or reply to the SMS message that is sent on the day of absence. It is important that we notify the department the reason your child is not attending school.
