The Year 5 students attended an overnight camp at Lyrebird Park on the 21st – 22nd of May. On the first day, they participated in lots of fun activities, including the flying fox, archery, rock climbing, making damper and toasting marshmallows on the campfire.
These activities allowed students to step outside their comfort zone while trying something new and exciting. Students also hiked through the bush at night using their torches to guide the way. Before heading home, students engaged in team-building and problem-solving activities, which tested their teamwork abilities, thinking outside the box and trial and error. All students had a great time away and created some new positive memories.
Below are some of the students from S34’s thoughts on the camp:
My experience at camp was amazing! My favourite bit of camp was the zip line because it went fast, and it went over a pond, which was cool! I also liked the cabins because my cabin was good, and I liked the people in it.
Rubi
My favourite part of camp was the slingshot because it was fun aiming for the targets. I really liked my cabin.
Scarlett
I really enjoyed the flying fox. Stepping off was my favourite part of it. I also enjoyed the angry birds because we had to work together to knock off the animals.
Vihara
Camp was fun because we got to do lots of fun activities, and there were lots of things to do. My favourite part was when we did the rock climbing, and I also liked when we did the team game.
Logan H
One of my highlights of camp was the flying fox. I thought it was cool going above the water. I really liked the teamwork activities at the end.
Grace
There were many fun activities at camp. Archery and the zip line were my favourites because they were tricky but also fun.
Zahra M
My favourite memory on camp was the zip line and doing rock climbing. Also, my cabin because I had all my friends and it was really fun. Making damper was really good because we all got to sit around the fire.
Olivia
I liked archery but it was really hard, and I kept missing. The cabins were decent.
Dion
All in all, camp was amazing but here are some of my highlights. Damper was my favourite activity because it was delicious and also because I discovered that I love burnt marshmallows. Sleeping was difficult because next doors cabin was very loud at night. The spaghetti bolognese was my favourite meal, but sausages were a close second.
Josephine
Something I liked at camp was rock climbing and the flying fox. It was really fun, and I would definitely do it again
Noah
Camp was really fun especially rock climbing. I also really liked the bush walk. It was fantastic!
